Here it is.

Seems similar to their Ride The Lightning stuff. Hetfield is actually getting to be a much better singer as he gets older. I think I'm the only person who liked St Anger, it had a great distinctive sound.
Hate the video though, kept waiting for some obvious political message
This song is amazing! I have heard it once before now but now it has finally clicked!
The only Metallica I have heard before this have been the really famous stuff (one, master of puppets etc) but I am going to buy a few albums I think.
Any recommendations?

Actually, there are a few other people here who liked St Anger. Can't say I was a big fan though.

Buy the first four albums (Kill 'Em All, Ride The Lightning, Master of Puppets and ...And Justice For All) and maybe try the Black Album. I would leave Load, Reload and St. Anger though.
I just think that Metallica is trying to be a thrash metal band again and I just don't think they are there yet. Definitely better than St. Anger but not really that great on its own merits.
I think the video makes sense actually. These soldiers looking for a fight, they think it comes but it doesn't. The Day That Never Comes! Get it.. iunno lol
Dude...8 minutes?Ilived
its metallica man, they have a lot of longer songs, due to guitar riffs and it taking around a minute give or take for them to start the vocals up
I'm not really a Metallica fan, but from that video, and that song... the two didn't really seem related.Samwel_X
i agree, the video seemed kinda amatureish, they just completely left the mini story of the two soldiers at the beginning and went to a different one, the pace of the video didnt match the pace of the song at all
I'm not sure why people don't understand this video.
The two soldiers in the beginning are supposed to be in the middle east(iraq, afghanistan, whatever). It's about their lives over there and the fact that they never know if they are going home or going to die today, tomorrow. One of them get's injured or possibly killed from and IED. The other soldier witnesses his friend get taken away from him in one moment. At the end of the video he has to decide whether the couple that appears to need car assistance are friendly or insurgents/taliban. Which leads him to question whether to help them and possibly die or kill them and risk killing innocent people.
It's and issue a soldier in a foreign land in the middle of a war deals with everyday. When all you see is your fellow man dieing next to you day after day, you will always think that your day to die is coming soon.
That's my take on the video. It could also be the soldier just waiting on the day when the fighting will finally end and he can return home to his normal life.
