[QUOTE="Fightingfan"]has better healthcare than AmericaJebus213

Is that because we don't give free healthcare to fatasses, smokers, and people who eat lead paint?

You know they don't have a McDonalds of every corner and have bacon for breakfast every morning until their first heart attack... That could explain the life expectancy... but hey.

We all know life expectancy only involves the healthcare system and not life style...

You're full of shit. Medicare/medicaid will pay for a gastric-bypass (varies by state). I bet if I got lung cancer too medicare/medicaid would pay for the transplant, and it wouldn't cost me a dime out of pocket.

If you believe the 9/11 Commission Report, then you're the one who believes a conspiracy theory.

:|

Without question the official 9/11 Commission Report, formally known as the Final Report of the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States, represents the most unsupported, contrived and ridiculous work of fiction ever produced by the US Federal Government. In fact, it represents the most implausible conspiracy theory in USA history, one that was foisted on the American people, as well as on the world-at-large.

Authoritarian is too general a term if you want to talk about corruption. What will stop corruption is a hyper authoritarian technocratic meritocracy with heavy emphasis on the last two words. In that system corruption is eliminated and the public is kept educated, happy and useful by a supremely strong centralized government operated by a highly trained and educated bureaucracy. The idea of a limited government is idiotic and will only serve to limit mans potential until that limited government is either destroyed from within by the stupidity of the individual and the popular mob or by the strength of a less restricted foreign government.frannkzappa
One of the biggest problems of meritocracy is that it inevitably leads to another autocracy where the children are given far more chances to succeed and prove their merits in comparison to a poor kid off the street. The problem isn't with the type of government or ideals, it's with human beings with selfish interests (aka every one of us).

That's not going to solve anything. Nothing will ever change until we break the whole campaign system. You have to have a ton of money to run for a federal office, and who is wealthy? Why the heads of giant corporations of course! It's all just a big circle that's never ending. Government will always be self-serving.

The thing is i don't support a pure meritocracy. Meritocracy is important but not the most important. In the system I support the meritocracy would be balanced and kept impartial by the technocratic aspects of the government.

One of the most important aspects of government should be a heavily funded and UNIVERSAL educational system. The goal of the system would be to train the children of the nation to become STEM majors, bureaucrats, teachers and soldiers (among others of course, but these four are of great importance) . The goal of the proper educational system is to be impartial to rank, stature and wealth and to fully train, academically enrich and mentally improve the student so that the parent government can prosper.

Wouldn't it make sense that staff members actually have a lot of experience in the area they're in charge of?

Not saying that none of these people are corrupted or that there's no corruption, but I don't think that those diagrams show much evidence of it.

In an ideal world, communism would thrive, Religion would love, and everyone would hold hands and sing Kumbaya. The biggest problem with your idea is your assumption that we can create a balanced and impartial system in the first place. Everyone has their bias and preferences. There is no such thing as impartiality with human nature. We tend to favour certain traits more than others. As shown in your arguments, we have different ideas of human nature and the practicality of ideals. Even when we value equality, that itself is a favoured trait. Any opinion or form we have is a bias, and bias tend to show favouritism and partiality.

29th amendment: no wealthy individuals eligible for election under 28th amendment. doesn't disqualify them altogether, just during the re-boot process.

so what

The nature of these positions, in government and business, is that they're open to a very exclusive pool of individuals at any given time. It's pretty inevitable that a top echelon apointee to an administrative department dealing with energy would have a background as a prominent person in the Energy market.

even if you believe the system can't be perfect (it can) an attempt at this form of government is still better then a democracy, which is doomed to failure by its very nature.

Hey speaking of burgerking they are doing some special 75 cent frozen drink (cherry or coke flavor), which is pretty cool. Too bad there is no burgerking in my city though, I'de have to get it from a neighboring city/town.

Fives pages so far, and only me and someone other poster suggested that this really isn't surprising and isn't some "conspiracy". It's more like hiring qualified individuals for positions. Who would you like them to hire, some random jackass that has little to no experience in that field?

Truth be told, a lot of those people probably just have very good qualifications for those positions.  The appointing parties will often vet them on their positions, so they know what they are getting.  You dont want them appointing some low IQ, mouth breather, to head up these departments, do you?

You are surrounded by morons. A list that has Bob the janitor, Bill the grocery clerk, and Mary the kindergarden teacher would be good gov't to these tools. Moreover, given the hundreds of thousands of people that have filled senior administration positions in the past 30 years one should expect thousands of them to have come from big corporate America.

Hooray for simpletons with lists of names and venn diagrams. You would do well to stock up on crackers to give the numerous parrots that are here and doing nothing but regurgitating the weakest of arguments.

Fives pages so far, and only me and someone other poster suggested that this really isn't surprising and isn't some "conspiracy". It's more like hiring qualified individuals for positions. Who would you like them to hire, some random jackass that has little to no experience in that field?

hoola

You are surrounded by morons. A list that has Bob the janitor, Bill the grocery clerk, and Mary the kindergarden teacher would be good gov't to these tools. Moreover, given the hundreds of thousands of people that have filled senior administration positions in the past 30 years one should expect thousands of them to have come from big corporate America.

Hooray for simpletons with lists of names and venn diagrams. You would do well to stock up on crackers to give the numerous parrots that are here and doing nothing but regurgitating the weakest of arguments.

So, there is no corruption here?

The answer is the same as if you flip open a phonebook to a random page. Sure there could be an instance of corruption, but a list of names is just a list of names. If your list is long enough you will likely have a criminal, a spouse beater, a sociopath, a saint, and an average Joe.

If you give me a list of senior gov't officials, I would expect an overwhelming % of them to have senior level experience in large complex bureaucracies. There are only so many places one gets that experience....and shockingly...big corporate America is one of those recruiting grounds.

Whether there is corruption with any of those particular individuals would require extensive investigation. If your list is long enough one can say with fairly high certainty that the odds favour some corruption because corruption does exist from time to time.

Which brings me back full circle to the phonebook. If you really want I can also demonstrate how the OP is designed to mislead the weakminded.

Wait... So you are telling me the federal government hires qualified individuals who have excelled in the private sector instead of nobodies with no experience or success and no connections to the fields in which they will be the CHIEF governing body over!?!?!?!???????

WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA?

That's nothing new.

I think that majority of the puppet politicians are where they are because they sold themselves out to the highest bidder.  I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that some of them came into office with the right idea of how to help govern the masses and all that jazz, but instead found themselves in a world of corruption until they themselves became inundated with "propositions" from people(remember, corporations are "people" too  ) with monetary gifts, invites to prestigous clubs, a "higher seat" etc.

Captain Obvious, because he's the hero OT deserves, but not the one it needs right now.

Why the f*ck not? The internet is great, but it is also a vehicle for spreading ridiculous nonsense which depends in part on taking advantage of weakminded people or simply those with insufficiently developed critical thinking skills. Spewing BS at people who are susceptible to this does them no favours.

The people who spew this are free to do so, but there are consequences. One of those consequences is that c*nts like me are free to confront their absurdities and drivel. Seems fair to me.
