I was recording some guitar tracks and i wanted to harmoniize but when i record the second track the first one records too and it just sounds like a bunch of noise...how do i mute the first track but still hear it so i can play over it?

If you want to hear it without recording it you might want to get some headphones and play the one already recorded from WMP or something like that. When you hit record the first track shouldn't play unless you have "play other tracks while recording new one" checked in the Audio I/O preferences under Edit. Idk if that helps or not...I haven't used Audacity in a while, I have Adobe Audition 3.0 currently
