The Godfather is still the highest rated movie ever. Quality>quantity.BullyRay44
So any movie that's not the highest rated movie ever is not enjoyable? The Hunger Games is still rated 87% on RT and 8.1 on IMDB, which is insanely high for a science-fiction blockbuster.
What was the budget?dodgerblue13$78 million.Well, that investment was easily met and doubled.
The Hunger Games is straight up balls. I saw it, and failed to see why it's so acclaimed. I don't think it would garner a quarter of the attention it has if it weren't marketed to death and didn't feature well-known/ likeable actors. The story is lame and the execution of its events are ridiculous. For example, when the kids -the KIDS - are killing each other, they don't seem to have an ounce of reluctance or remorse as they slash and stab one another to death. WTF? Are these adolescent mofos sociopaths? Also, the part in which some of the kids team-up to take out Katniss is absurd; if this is a fight to the death, why would they work together? Makes no sense whatsoever. Furthermore, the premise of a dystopian society is inherently absurd to me; the way that the masses simply capitulate to the demands of the state with absolute obedience is so unHuman; they're like drones with no individuality. Let's not forget the undeveloped relationship between Katniss and her younger sister, which is the crux of the entire film considering that it's the reason why Katniss volunteered as tribute. Let's also not forget the wacky shaky cam and lack of suspense. The whole movie is rubbish.
I haven't seen the movie, but the book clearly answers all of those questions.
Was it better than The Lord of the Rings?
King-Kai
Hell no.
Then I'll love it.
I was debating on posting this because of him. :P Oh, well...that's what happens when I decide to sleep in on a Sunday. :PYou beat Hallenbeck77 to the punch!
Batman 3 will top them all~sammyjenkis898Given that this is the first film in the franchise, the next film will gross even higher than this one. I can see it getting to the number one spot.
A lot of people went to it because of the heavy advertising and the hype. I doubt a sequel for this type of story is going to beat the frist film. It'll just be more of the same garbage. Like Final Destination.
It's a combination of a crappy death sport movie and an overpopulation revolution movie. Reminds me of Robot Jox and how they would send robots into an arena to battle for territorial claims. Basically the same thing except this movie caters to those who have a thing for people killing each other.
I just got back from seeing the movie. Not bad at all. I liked the science fiction parts, the weird decadent society. But it kind of lost me at the end with the CGI dog beasts which were dumb and made no sense to me. I look forward to the sequels.Videodogg
Lol yeah that part was a little odd.
I wish I read the books now. I remeber having a friend a couple years ago that told me about them.
It's sad that Spiderman 3 got such a large grossing in theatres, being such a disapointment and all.
It's also very sad that 2 Twilight movies did better (money making wise of course, because that's all the movies were good for) than Toy Story 3...The mainstream won again...
Since I read the book (had to for school, but did enjoy it), I might go see it. Though I'm still going to go see the new Dark Knight in Imax, since I didn't see the the first Dark Knight (Batman Begins wasn't labeled as "Dark Knight," though I am aware that it's the first one of the 3) in Imax lol.
damn teenage girlscampzorExactly what I was thinking. I failed to mention that I was surprised at not seeing any of the popular "scary" movies being up there, though sad to see Paranormal Activity 3 made it that section...

I was surprised to see this have such a good mark on RottenTomatoes, I automatically wrote it off just because it seemed to be hyped by the Twilight crowdJML897
I honestly don't get why the f*ck so many twilight fans loved the book to the point where it was practically a religion. My friend's girl posted hourly updates on FB and Twitter for 2 weeks until it came out. She dragged me, my friend, and at least 20 of her friends to the movies (she DID pay for the tickets at least), and won't let her brother see the movie until he reads the book.
In all honesty, while not a GREAT movie, I'd pay to see it again. It's at least interesting. But it has practically no relation to Twilight, save a "forbidden love" angle. I think the hypes more like a bandwagon effect than people who actually enjoyed the book (which I never read).
What are you some kinda hipster? Hipsters are lame. I just hate stuff. Not going to watch it because it is too popular.

I watched yesterday and was pleasantly surprised. I really enjoyed it and thought it was way better than the book.
