What makes you come here and constantly make anti religious threads and ultimately talking about religion more than the religious? Do you all think to yourselves how can I attempt to disprove religion today? Do you have these discussions with people of faith in real life or do you simply do it on the safety of the internet? Is there any reason one of you has to make a religious thread every week that is simply gets borderline insulting?

Just some stuff I would like to know. Trolls you can chime in as well if you feel like.

Also calling satan's lair before anyone else does.

From what I've seen it's usually around 50/50 split of who makes the religious threads. Maybe with religious people on facebook calling us Satan's Lair there are less of them around right now?

Sorry Dude, but if you don't like it, you're gonna have to ask the mods to ban all religious threads. People are just as entitled to their veiws as you are to yours.

"Satan's Lair". Yeah, this is the seediest site on the internet. Anything goes here. I can't imagine that there is anything on the internet worse than GameSpot.

Do you have these discussions with people of faith in real life or do you simply do it on the safety of the internet?

Espada12

Now I remember. You are the user I have seen before asking this annoying question.

Like I said in the last anti-religious thread, its only natural, that atheists will resort to the safety of the internet and discuss about their atheistic beliefs, whereas in real life, they would get harsh criticism (if not worse) by most of the people that might be listening to them. I think I had told you that the last time you asked that question.

The only thing you are doing with this question, is flaunting the advantage you have as a theist IRL. Making it seem as if atheists who resort on the internet are cowards. There is a fine line between being brave and being an idiot that doesnt consider the consequences IRL. And in many countries being "brave" about your atheistic beliefs is not a wise choice.

My main gripe with "in your face" atheists are that they tend to be so aggressive and often very belligerent. Many who start pro religion threads are more mellow and passive aggressive. @quadraleap Who guy in the image you posted?

As a justified Atheist, I am not concerned with bashing anyone, but more concerned with disseminating rationality and reason, even if that means disagreeing with a few simpletons in the process.

The reason it's such a hot topic is because no side can truly see the other's point of view. If I ask you to imagine a Godless world I'd wager you would either see a world full of lawlessness and problems or you couldn't imagine a world even being here without the existence of a creator; certainly you wouldn't think of the world the same as it is now except governed entirely by the laws of physics without intervention or creation by a higher power. Similarly, if you ask a true atheist to imagine a world where a God created everything and was watching and judging everything you do until you die, at which point (lets be fair) you have a 50/50 chance of having pissed him off by accident and now you're off to Hell for eternity. The atheist would ask you why you would want to believe in such a thing. Personal religious views aren't necessarily a problem, it's organised religion where the problems usually start. Having people coming to your door every week telling you that their way is the best gets really old really quick. Besides, if you can change someone's deepest held beliefs at the door, would anyone really want such weak willed people to join? Surely they would jump ship next time someone offered them something easier to believe or that holds more long term promise. The very act of asking someone to "join" their faith is incredibly insulting to some people, as it is to me, because those sort of beliefs are so personal and unique that I defy anyone who can lump any two people's beliefs under the same banner. Also, with some religions having shady recruitment tactics and ulterior motives behind why they want you to join their faith you can forgive people for coming on here and venting about how much religion/religious people annoy them (just like I did in the opening to this paragraph). Threads like this don't help the cause either; if you want to change people's mind try asking them to understand that most religious people aren't like that. Some of the most interesting and enlightening debate comes from two people with opposing views who refuse to concede to each other. Neither side can ever be truly proved to be correct or incorrect and so the debate rages on and yes, I frequently have these sorts of debates with people in the course of my normal day and I thoroughly enjoy it because I am in neither camp.

I have solved this issue once and for all. I am a god. There I said it and it is true for me. What makes me a god I don't know, but at least Idon't pick favourites and people who suck up to me to live in a good eternity. And Idon't send peole to eternal pain. I help my friends. I have a code of honor; I don't impregnate virgins when they don't notice it and then not claim any responsibility for it. I could go on forever but the point is that I am a better god than God. Hell, I might as well make someone write a biography about how I was incarnated as the most peaceful person person in the planet (The dalai Lama) and that my incarnation (Dalai Lama) demands i get proper worship. Mwhaha, nobody has ever thought of this before... (I really rushed through this, but you'll get it :P )

What is annoying is that every religious thread gets ruined by people attacking each other's beliefs -even threads that start out well end this way It is the Internet...no one is going to change their mind. But I find other people's belief systems to be fascinating -I would love to have a thread where 'we' could actually talk to people about what they believe, why they believe it, how they were raised, etc. ...and I mean actual questions/conversations...not thinly (or not so thinly) veiled attacks

Way back when there actually were good religion threads. Now....none. And it's funny to read them and see users praising other users because they post an opinion with a few sentences strung together. Never mind that nothing was said and it isn't actually debating. I miss the days when debates DID happen in those threads.:(

I love this line right here, almost as though you are trying to veil the fact that talking about religion in any manner other than outright agreeing could be detrimental to one's safety. Typical.

The threads don't bother me any. I am a Christian and read through the religion threads. I find it amusing how some of the more outspoken Atheists on this board attempt (but fail) to prove religion wrong. It's also amusing to look at the threads posted by the religious to attempt to prove religion right and also fail. I don't believe either one can prove their case on a gaming forum. I believe in God due to the many different experiences I have had and continue to have in my life. This just isn't something I can pull out of my back pocket and prove why I believe to anyone here.

There has been no thread created that has even come close to proving why I made a mistake by deciding to believe in God. In my mind, I say go ahead and keep trying. I'll continue to keep reading them and keep an open mind.

I don't think that is what he was saying at all :?

I THINK he saying that people, for the most part, ATTACK others beliefs on the Internet more than IRL.
-I encourage people to disagree with what I think...life would be boring otherwise
-but attacking/patronizing others is something else entirely
