It says that he was the result of a virgin birth but not the son of God. I don't get that.deshields538
That's correct.
Relate in the Book (the story of) Mary, when she withdrew from her family to a place in the East. She placed a screen (to screen herself) from them; then We sent her Our angel, and he appeared before her as a man in all respects."
After seeing the angel, she said: "I seek refuge from thee to (God) Most Gracious: (come not near) if thou dost fear God."
The angel Gabriel responded: "Nay, I am only a messenger from thy Lord, (to announce) to thee the gift of a pure son."
She asked: "How shall I have a son, seeing that no man has touched me, and I am not unchaste?"
The Angel Gabriel said: "So (it will be): thy Lord saith, 'That is easy for Me: and (We wish) to appoint him as a Sign unto men and a Mercy from Us.' It is a matter (so) decreed."
Qur'an - Chapter 19 - Surah Marium (Mary) - Verses 16-21
In my comparative world religion class an Imam from a mosque in Portland came and told us a little about Islam. And when he mentioned that they believe Jesus is a prophet and not the child of God. most the class started shaking their heads and I said out loud (loud enough for everone to hear) "OMG that makes so much more sense the christianities take on the guy."
A lot people glared at me. I believe the Imam however felt great about enlightening someone.

Actually it makes less sense. Rather strange that with all the prophets ONLY one would be different.

Oh right, thanks for clearing that up.

Every prophet was different. Each had their own set of miracles and stories. Whether it be Adam, Noah, Moses, Abraham, Ishmael, Ishaaq, Moses, Jacob, Lot, Jonah, David, Jesus, Muhammed, and the rest in between. Peace be upon them all.

Um...no. They are NOT the same. In addition, Jesus was prophesied in the OT. You may believe differently and that is fine. I'm not going to slam your beliefs. However, it's really a contradiction.;)

I guess I'm not quite following you. You stated, "Rather strange that with all the prophets ONLY one would be different.". However, then you said "They are NOT the same". Thats what I said too, they aren't all the same, they are all different. Each had their own culture, miracle, and story.
LJ, I know you are a Christian, and respect that, by all means. I'm only curious as to what you feel is contridicting.
