The Joys of Private Browsing Mode

Private Browsing was introduced in Firefox 3.5, giving users the option of browsing the web without keeping track of their history. A recent Test Pilot study recorded – among other things – the time users activated Private Browsing, and the time they deactivated it. Though what happens in Private Browsing stays in Private Private Browsing – that is, neither Firefox nor Test Pilot records anything during the period – we did learn a few things about timing and duration. Well I remember when it first came out and I updated FF it said "New private browsing blah blah blah".

Private browsing mode came out with Firefox 3.5 and we are on Firefox 3.6.8 now.

Ya I know. I'm saying when 3.5 came out it said that.

It is. Opera Button Tabs and Windows Pick whatever.Hexagon_777

I guessed I must've missed it, I thought Opera didn't have it because some random reviewer listed no private browsing as a con for Opera. >_>

Firefox users don't last that long I guess. Why do you always have it on, though? Doesn't it become tedious when you have no history, when you have to log in every time, when websites cannot be loaded from cache, and so on?
