So I just saw The Last Samurai and I loved it I was not exepcting it to be decent at all. Then I looked up reviews on google and was shocked to see half if not more of the critics panned it. Okay, so maybe it wasn't all that historically accurate but that dosen't mean it was a bad movie!

Have you seen it and if so what did you think of it? Am I the only one who liked it??

I loved it, although the plot was a little over the top.

It was ok, not much of any of it was extraordinary. It was solidly mediocre.

I liked it. But I like anything to do with Samurai, ninja, swords, wizards, dragons, misty mountains, etc.

It was pretty good. Haven't watched it in a long time, but I enjoy it every time I see it.

I came in wanting to hate the movie...Tom Cruise playing a Samurai. I mean, come on! The thought made me cringe. I have to admit, however, that I was pleasantly surprised after watching it. It's not historically accurate, but I ended up enjoying the movie.

Any movie with Tom Cruise in it is just ruined to me. Every time I see him on screen, I start thinking of couch jumping and Xenu

Maddox has a funny take to it. :P

I just thought it was average, nothing more, nothing less.

Thank you, that made me laugh. :) I agree with everything...the entire premise of the movie was ridiculous. But again, I have to say I actually enjoyed the movie despite the issues. It's not a great movie...I was just pleasantly surprised that it was a total piece of ****. That's all.

Is the last Samurai of the movie Natsumoto or Nathan Algren? Thats a little bit of depth in the movie for you to decide, which makes it kind of cool.

This movie was also one of the first in my memory to have the effect of some of the fighting scenes in normal speed and then the same scene in slo-mo, which i thought was cool.

Tom Cruise turns my stomach but i give credit where its due: he is good in this and its a very good movie IMO

Critics couldn't seem to get over the fact that they were saying the last ever samurai was an American white guy for some reason.

Anyone who thinks Cruise's character is suppose to be the last samurai need to watch it again. Katsumoto is the last samurai.

I really enjoyed the movie personally. The ninja scene kicked ass.

They introduced Billy Connolly's character, who was pretty cool, and killed him in the first 30 minutes. Strike one.

Excessive use of slo-mo shutter flashbacks. Strike two.

Ridiculous amounts of time with characters staring at each other or off in the distance. Strike three.

It was a pretty bad movie. It had great scenery, which was chewed up by Cruise. It had Ken Watanabe, who had to play alongside Cruise. It had a bunch of secondary characters that I couldn't give a damn about. And one of the dumbest romances ever. Everything just felt so one-dimensional, and used a few cliches that I thought Hollywood had gotten over at least 20 years ago. So no, I didn't like it much.

I liked it enough so that I'd probably watch it again. But liking it enough to buy the DVD, then no. Even though there are some things that I don't exactly think fit in, I'd still consider it an epic sort of movie.

I remember liking the end, even if it was overly meladromatic and self-indulgent.

It was just a copy of dances with wolves, exchanged the indians with samurai, switch kevin costner for tom cruise.

It was the only movie I ever watched again right after it was over. Loved every minute of it; then I heard it was a different take on dances with wolves, then I went on to see that movie...Loved every minute of it!!

I love it cos most of it was shot here in New Zealand. Sure it was formulaic and all that but it was still an engrossing. It also had a beautiful soundtrack which throughly deserved the Oscar for Best Music
