Well then I don't believe they were good Christians at all... the only time I think violence is justified is in self-defense, fighting in a justified war, (and Iraq is) and if someone murders another I believe they deserve to die.

No, the death penalty punishes people who have already commited murder. So it is a much more of a punishment than it is a deterent.

The murdering doesn't stop because you don't kill the murderer until after he has killed someone.

I'd say either the Romans or the Egyptians, both were pretty good at conquering and enslaving countless millions and going lasted for hundreds of years of war and rule.1005

The Romans(alteast, Imperial Rome) atleast gave the option for those who they conquered to become Roman citizens. Which is more "civilized" thn say, the vikings who just pillaged and burned.
