I liked the flick. The plot was terrible, the acting was average, etc.etc. What I liked was the Steampunk feel to the movie.

I couldn't get past the plotholes and the fact that the action was, while pretty, very average. The biggest plot issue for me was when the main chick "explained" her plan when she only said what she needed for the plan and for some reason the other girls understood her plan that she never told them.
I don't understand why so many people have been hating on it. I got exactly what I expected from the movie; it delivers plenty of gratuitous hyper-stylized cinematic action violence preformed by extremely attractive young women with a lot of cg and special effects. The rest of the movie kind of drags on and doesn't add much...in fact it sort of detracts from the more entertaining parts. But even so, it's an entertaining film overall.

see now that is something I disagree on. I thought the action was fairly dull due to the fact that the girls never once appeared to be in danger right from the very first battle. The main chick gets kicked through a wall and several other things while she is flying though the air. When we see her get up she doesn't have so much as a bruise heck even her hair was still in perfect condition. It kind of kills any tension immediately.

Cause some people expect actual character development and an a good story, not just action and special effects and attractive women.

But it's Zack Snyder man. What I'm saying is that people who did expect character development and a good story were expecting too much. Did you really see previews for the movie and think that it was going to be deep or intellectual in any way? All I saw was Emily Browning slicing a robot in half with a katana. Doesn't exactly bode well for the narrative aspect of the movie.I liked it too, although the story did sorta stink. Main character is really pretty though so that makes up for it!
My favorite thing about the movie though was the art style, major props to the artists working on it. I heard Alex Pardee helped out, one of my favorite artists.

I hear you there. I did have to laugh a bit when it was all said and done, considering all that happened was she got weapons, an old guy says DEFEND YOURSELF, and all of a sudden she's a ninja. It doesn't make sense necessarily, but the way I see it in a movie where enemies include mechanical Nazis, dragons, and robots, you shouldn't be worried as much about the practicality as you are about the spectacle. I just don't think the movie was ever intended to be much more than a shallow visual playground filled with scantily clad hot chicks wielding katanas, assault rifles, and in one super awesome instance, a tomahawk.for me this along with a great soundtrack were the best parts of the film. Not enough to give it a decent review, but still it didn't get everything wrong.I liked it too, although the story did sorta stink. Main character is really pretty though so that makes up for it!

Critics totally exaggerated on this one, the movie was not THAT bad. It was very enjoyable, complete fun pop corn movie. I enjoyed it more than any of the Transformers movies thats for sure.
My snobby, movie elitest gene prevents me from acknowledging that this movie, or even Zack Snyder, exist...

Yep. I just recently watched a foreign film form South Korea called Old Boy. It was an amazing movie, very interesting cineamtography too. It also had some excepitnalty great acting and a disturbingly good story. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants more out of their movies than explosions and hot chicks. Be forewarned though, it has a good bit of nudity and explicit sexual scenes. Do not watch this with your family if they have a problem with nudity.[QUOTE="Deihjan"]There's already three threads on it.wslacker2Checked the topic before I even posted. It was fun, it was entertaining! It was beautiful, the music was awesome! I dont know what people were expecting ...Oscar bait? I got exactly what I expected from the trailer, on a side note ....the train scene ...my jaw literally dropped! I thought it was going to be the dullest scene when it started but the way they shot that scene ..wow, just wow! Fun movie! :D Loved it!
