As for the laptop range, two fingers on the trackpad and click. It is BETTER than the standard PC right click button. And that isn't mere icing on the cake. The trackpads on MacBooks are vastly to superior to anything I've seen on other laptops.SolidSnake35

Thinkpad Trackpoint

Better keyboard too.

Most likely it's Quanta vs Quanta technology... just Macs are 3-5x as much. :D

What is it with this? People get really worked up over it. I just don't see why I should care at all. Seriously, I've seen some people who are so extreme in their Mac loving that they said "All PC owners are (inapropriate name here.)" i just don't see why people get so into it. Perhaps OT can help me with this?

You should also recognize that the hardcore PC users have very flattering names for Mac users as well. It's just another brand loyalty argument, only it's Apple versus many PC makers. But you get my point. I've used Macs my whole life. It's what we had in school, and at home. I've also used PC's my whole working life... most companies use Windows machines. I prefer the Macs... mostly because the problems I've encountered on work PC's have never happened on my Macs. Just last week my PC at work crashed and was infested with about 70 viruses. This is something I don't worry about with my Macs.

[QUOTE="SolidSnake35"][QUOTE="chessmaster1989"][QUOTE="SolidSnake35"] How could it possibly be false? Everyone grows up using a PC because of the market share.

Not necessarily true, I've known people who've used Macs their whole lives (and, conversely, people who've used PCs their whole lives). If you're going to make broad generalizations about a group of people, you should back them up.

I won't conduct research where common sense suffices. You're the one making the bold claim that there are many people who don't know how to use a PC. My claim is not so bold. My claim is that most people don't know how to use a Mac.

I'll agree, some kids in my school were so confused on how the right click on a mac. I literally had to tell them all to hold down ctrl.

You don't even have to do that either. Apple's mice have had a right button for some time now.

It starts because most PC users don't have a clue about Macs... and yet talk bad about them.SolidSnake35
A lot of Mac users don't know a thing about Macs and yet praise them...

I used a Mac a lot in college for my graphics course, they were okay but nothing special, annoying functionality to be honest.

Macs are charging you almost double for the hardware you get inside and are un-upgradable. Mac's have fewer programs you can use and have limited games to play. The "macs don't get viruses" argument is completely false. I haven't gotten a virus on my windows 7 computer yet. Pc's can be built by yourself and are completely customizable. Mac's just stuff old hardware in a shiny package and charge double.

I prefer PC, and I've used Mac Pro towers, Macbook Pro and Imac on a day to day basis for over four years.

I'm the reverse I've used a PC pretty much daily for close to 11 years, Seen the different Operating systems come and go and I love my Imac. For me the Imac seems easier to use and it does have the best editing software you can get Final Cut Studio. Also supprisingly I am not one of these idiots that will look down on PC users. Everyone has the right to pick there computers and brand, for me I love the mac system so there for I brought one.

I love the "Macs are better for graphic design" statement.

Whenever i ask why, no one seems to be able to tell me.

They don't really get viruses because there aren't many written to attack Macs. My dad actually told me about a virus that was using Quickbooks to get into Macs. So, I know they're out there. In the 20+ years that I've used Apple computers, I've never had one. You're statement on less software available for Macs is pretty much false nowadays. Almost every game I see for PC is also on Mac.

Probably because the Adobe softwares have usually run better on Macs. There's also the fact that Apple and Adobe are bff's. I've always noticed that on PC's there's more steps involved to get things done. Apple's iLife software (iTunes, iPhoto, etc.) along with iWorks software is much more simplistic and easy to learn. I'll admit that Windows 7 is very nice, but MS is still playing catch up when it comes to OS's.

And if you have a good security system on your PC....you won't get them with Windows.

Yes, because the hardware inside is just terrible for the price compared to a pc.

If Macs didn't have such a high premium on them, I'm pretty sure most people wouldn't honestly care. But the price you pay is way too high. I can understand paying a premium, it's just that the premium Apple puts on Macs (and their products in general) make them easy targets and is ridiculously high.

They are solid products that just cost to much for what you get.

Oh and you can't really do "traditional" gaming on them. And businesses hate them.

And a Mac's library of games are still low compared to PC(even for games coming out)...and then there's the hardware.

More steps you say? Could you provide an example please?

If you're rich and only use a computer to get on facebook, get a mac. Otherwise PC's are both cheaper and more flexible.
