As soon as I read, "The truth," I knew this would be comedy gold; I'm not dissapointed.Tailor made for Ron Paul supportersDroidPhysX
I like some things about Ron Paul, but I cannot stand a lot of his supporters. So god damn annoying.
And seriously TC, a youtube video? Clearly the best source for reliable information.

And that video was about as far from reality as you can get.
sUeSA, as much as i hate current IP laws and the "protective" state, i really cant back "THE TRUTH!", sadly i cannot spell out the dramatic music that plays in my head when "THE TRUTH!" is said/typed/thought
It is definitely propoganda esque and a lot of it is completely false, but some of it has some 'truth' to it. To be honest a lot of what I watched of that video was pretty laughable and was just senseless fear mongering for obviously uninformed individuals.chandlerr_360Propaganda only needs a drop of truth mixed in to snag the ignorant.
[QUOTE="HFkami"] this is not a democrazy.topsemag55The U.S. is a republic, not a democracy. It's a democratic-republic and why do people even make videos like that? What a waste of time.

No, I'm familiar with the, "best lies have a kernel of truth" motif, but that is a wording I particularly enjoy relating to propoganda. Previously my go-to quote has been, "Propaganda is a monologue which seeks not a response but an echo" (W.H. Auden)
It's a corporatocracy not a democracy. Like most of the world.kuraimenIn theory it's an Indirectly Federated Republic, and it's also a Plutocracy (what you said, but more accurate). Much as China is a Communist-Capitalist Gerantocracy.
We don't have an aristocracy... a plutocracy or quasi-oligarchy is more on-target.It's a republic. Don't know why we even call it a democracy. I'd argue that we're also sort of an unofficial aristocracy.

The United States is the world's oldest surviving federation. It is a constitutional republic and representative democracy....as they say. One can't exactly eliminate democracy from the description....and it's not an aristocracy.....if people are too apathetic to exercise their voice by voting...then they deserve what they get. Though it's a shame others that DO vote get stuck with it as well. It's a republic. Don't know why we even call it a democracy. I'd argue that we're also sort of an unofficial aristocracy.

Because the wealthy do in fact vote for their interests....and the poor are too uninterested to do so.The United States is the world's oldest surviving federation. This... Its a democracy all right, but a democracy for the wealthy, for it is only their voice that gets heard and validated, because of their money/power! Corporatocracy, and corporiticians! It isn't that the poor is uninterested, its that they are shoved aside and get told lets hear from people that actually make money!

i hate the corporatiststate as much, if not more than, your average person but damn i will never understand how or why people blame the companies asking for special treatment over the ones with power who grant it. also i laugh whenever someone calls our restricted and protected economy a capitalist free market.

Very well put.
I too find it interesting that those who bemoan the currying of govt power/favoritism think the solution is more govt power .............that can then be purchased by the wealthy.
All people are ultimately self-interested and will pursue their own best interests. But it is only those in govt that have the police power of the state at their disposal to obtain their interests, and those of who they favor.
True the US is an Capitalist dictatorship where economics controls every aspect of human life. The US never was a real democracy.
Thank God that I don't live in the US though because if I was, I would die homeless on the streets.

They KNOW that we're slaaaaves maaaan, because they read an article somewhere that said STUFF. You can't argue with opinion brah, 'cause like, everyone has them and that's all that matters. ;)True the US is an Capitalist dictatorship where economics controls every aspect of human life. Because they are contributing to the behavior of said government. Were I to use rhetoric the way Ron Paul does, the corporations are employing professional bank robbers. (ofc, so do all special interests)
They can actually do that in the US too. Since the patriot act came into being Canada actually probably has the edge on the US when it comes to freedoms of speech.US has more freedom of speech than any other country. Even if you say something in Canada, they can still investigate you if they don't like it.
