I've always heard great things about Bruce Lee, how he could grab a coin and replace it with another coin in someones hand before they closed it, how he kicked a punching bag through a roof, how he could open a soda can with only his index finger, etc, etc.

But I always wonderef if he could take on todays top MMA fighters and what not.

What do you thing?

Well he did take part in what would later be known as MMA. I would say you really can't compare what was from the 70's to today. With that said though, it's possible that he could still hold his own against today's fighters. who knows >_>

I would imagine that he would do well in the UFC, probably because of the combination of speed and stenght he posessed.

I believe Bruce Lee would've been able to hold his own in an MMA match. People seem to think he's all about kicking and punching karate and king fy style but he was known to learn from all styles to further increase his knowledge of the martial arts. That would include Judo, Jiu-jitsu, Muay Thai and any other style he thinks would mesh well with his own personal form of Jeet Kun Do.

While MMA fighters tend to lean heavily on grapplers and submission artists with some striking skills to supplement them most fighters are not experts in both. If Bruce Lee was alive in the beginning of the MMA craze during the late 80's and early 90's then I'm sure he would've seen that he would've needed to add grappling to his repertoire of moves.

He studied Jiu Jitsu as well. I mean I don't like mma at all. But if you do some research on bruce lee, honestly I don't think any fighter in any system will be as good as him for a long time.

He would slaughter in his own weight class. Hell he would kill in the one above. I think it would only be fair if he fought two weight classes up. They should remove minimum weights from weight classes so people can fight up without gaining weight. Bruce Lee is lightning fast and super-strong for his weight. The only question is, can he actually take a punch if someone were to land a clean hit. He was school boxing champion back in Hong Kong so I would think so.

Of course he can. He has a fighting spirit. And if he was in his prime and learned the fighting styles and rules of today, he would train like the fighters of today and could take on anybody.

I think he was pretty over-rated to be honest. Can anyone show me the record of him fighting anyone who was truly skilled? His most well documented fights were in a college boxing tournament... The best evidence for Bruce Lee being a good fighter is that he beat up a few amateur boxers...

I respect him for bringing asian martial arts (good times) to western cinema, but the idea that he was some kind of phenomenal fighter doesn't hold much weight with me.

I think as a striker he would be above average in comparison to other strikers, but he wouldn't be at the top of his weight class. With regards to his wrestling and BJJ, the little he knew wouldn't do him any good, he'd be like a child in the hands of a wrestler or grappler.

I don't think he would do that well.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to put on my suit of armour.

I think he'd do pretty well. It would be interesting to see what would happen if someone managed to get him on the ground though.
