Has this blown your mind? Man, I love the universe -- it's so amazing.

Picture of the universe

And if you take all of that into consideration, imagine the planets possibly orbiting stars of that size? There could be an earth-like planet where Jupiter, the largest planet in our solar system, dwarfs in comparison. We probably haven't even explored a fraction of the entire universe yet. This is why this kind of stuff is amazing. It's the unknown -- and it's bound to blow your mind.

Looking at the frame where there's all the galaxies and you see the little swirls is just @_@ But It'll be awesome when we can finally get the technology to go out there, seriously there has to be some other intelligent life out there (other than bacteria >_>) I wish I can hopefully still be around when we finally find it.

We will never have the possibility to reach that far out into space. It would take a couple of lifetimes to make it that far away.

Neither you or I will live long enough to know that for sure. And even if we don't make it that far, I think eventually we will make it somewhere.

i love the fact that our physics isnt able to comprehend the size of that one galaxy, and who is to say this is the only universe out there, we may be in one of many 'verses'....... was posting in a thread last night with someone who couldnt imagine earth being created by anything but god, but seriously when you look at all the possibilities of combinations out there in our universe, there is almost no way to fathom that this is the only planet sustaining life........

I added a 56k warning to your thread title, please don't forget stuff like that when you decide to post 1.5MB pics. And I've seen this before. Gotta be honest, the Hubble Telescope story was cool but it has never blown my mind. That picture comparing the sizes of different stars on the other hand. >.>

With technology advancing at exponential rates, there's no doubt that we'll eventually find ways to get there, even if it would require travelling at the speed of light for 10 trillon years :P But really, I think we'll be there eventually,as long as we don't get screwed over by an asteroid hitting Earth or something.

You know how when Eskimos get old they're sometimes put on an ice floe and sent off to die, to symbolize their connection with nature? When i'm old, I hope they blast me into space. That'd be badass.

A lot of those facts are wrong. The universe was created around 6,000 years ago by God. But his creation certainly is amazing :)

Wedon't know. Because light doesn't travel instantly, it's taken about 13 billion years for it to travel from those galaxies to Earth. So, we're literally looking back in time 13 billion years. Who knows what's happened to them? All their stars have died? They just fizzled out? Galactus ate them? Maybe we'll never know.

what really amazes me is that if that picture was taken in complete blackness, imagine how bright the visible stars are

its also a shame, that if we do manage to be able to travel at the speed of light, nobody will be able to see everything our universe has to offer

its amazing, but i doubt we will even travel far for atleast three - five generations, but technology has advanced more in the lasttwenty years than the last two thousand

intriguing
