As I'm studying, I came across a Harris and Pew Research poll in my textbook showing the worlds view on America as either Favorable or Unfavorable. I decided to make the same poll here on Gamespot. The only difference is that in my textbook it lists favorable and unfavorable percentages by country.

It is currently in the process of becoming more favourable now that Bush is effectively gone and Obama has arrived.

I think you'll get a lot of hate here, sadly, but personally i think the world view of America lately has declined as Bush's foreign policy was bullyish and interventionist. I dont think anyone "hates" america or americans, but rather disapproves or resents the actions of the government, much like most americans themselves in Bush's approval ratings are any indication.

Incase people were wondering, I'll post a few of the percentages from my textbook:

Canada: 72% Favorable. 27% Unfavorable.

United Kingdom: 75% Favorable. 16% Unfavorable.

France: 63% Favorable. 34% Unfavorable.

Pakistan: 10% Favorable. 69% Unfavorable.

Kenya: 80% Favorable. 15% Unfavorable.

Egypt: 6% Favorable. 69% Unfavorable.

Russia: 61% Favorable. 33% Unfavorable.

I live in America and even I don't like it most of the time. I really hope Obama brings America back to its glory days.

Being an American (quite close to Canada though). I've always thought that people think, we all live off of McDonalds, and are fanboys of these modern day Republicans. Though there has been some obvious changes in America in say.. the last week or so...

Wow, the world is pretty damn superficial if they're judging an entire country, its profits, its exports, its people, and its overall value and position in the world based on its figurehead leader.:|

First your sig is amazing. Second, I agree with everything you stated. And lastly, Obama will bring us "popularity" with other countries, but citizens here will be suffering in America under his leadership.

Sure, we are pretty superficial but if America chooses a guy who comes across as ignorant, closed-minded and at best semi-articulate as its leading international representative, what are we supposed to think?

Well, honestly, I think that the kind of person we elect to our highest office says a lot about what kind of people we are.

Obviously it doesn't tell the whole story, but it still says a lot.

But it's not fair for us that didn't vote for Mcbama. The immoral nature of our politicians makes us look bad, because uneducated people all over the country keep voting these tools in.

I think Bush's foreign policy sucks. Everything else, I'm not genius in, so I'm not going to form an opinion, but from what I do know, I would have a favourable opinion of them.

people tend to dislike the arrogance and insular nature of americans. I know many americans are not like this but the bad eggs tend to shout the loudest, so form the generalised view of the american people.

Well..

Firstly, they have had a foreign policy called 'We don't really care about what you think, but we will interrupt if you do something we don't like'. I think it's safe to say, that they like war a bit too much.
They are also very capitalistic, and therefore there is an enormous gap between the poor and the rich, they have a big share of crazy christian fundamentalists and they invented fast-food.

But they've also done a lot of great things, like ending WW1 and WW2, and most of the scientific progress came from there, as much of the world as we know it today, has been greatly influenced by the US.

I think I've gotten a bit sick of America in the last years, hopefully Obama will change that.

Overall I have a relatively favourable view of the US. I don't agree with judging a whole country based on its President. So the recent election won't necessarily change anything.

The USA seems like a good place, but I hate the **** I encounter online that stereotype alot and most of them NEVER give you a chance to speak, they just keep yapping and never know when to stfu. Other than them the rest are nice people.

I am glad to see we are 75% favourable.

just the UK, then?

there is so much diversity in europe.. much more than in the US.. but USA is a country after, all.

ive always thought though that if you want the REAL taste of europe (like... the most european of it all) then youd have to visit Italy. soo much history.. so much to see.. so many interesting cities.

but yeah, UK is awesome, too. been to london 4 times.. great city. i still prefer your New York, though :P best city ever!

Come to Manchester, it's a nice place.. really.

Tbh I wouldn't say USA is a country, it's just that they decided to call it a country and confuse people with states. A state should be a country, USA is supposed to be a continent like Africa.

yeah.. UK is in europe.. also, you said you were coming here cause pounds taken a beating :P so i figured you were just going to england or something.

im going to italy next summer :D cant wait.. 10 grand isnt alot for one whole family (4+ persons) in a country for 3 weeks. when i was in NYC with my dad he paid 4 grand for the hotel room only :P thats for 10 days.

but yeah, you should definitely visit italy and france etc.. also, you should rent a car and check out the german autobahn :P great fun. if you decide to go up north (scandinavia etc), be sure to come here during the summer. its so cold and depressing here now -.-

or maybe youre used to cold winters :P where in america do you live?

We (the world, I speaking on behalf and king of) think you are all very very silly.  We told you that you are too old for Santa Claus and Jesus but you thew a temper tantrum and put your fingers in your ears singing "la la la! I'm not listening!"

Also, you lot think your gun problem can be solved with :o more guns.  Now we people of the world have trifles with all kinds of things but we never say "look a bush fire! I know let's put it out with more fire"

Most of all we dislike the Cowboys that run your country.  Ney, not the people in the white box, the slimey toads in the sky-scrapers who consider sharing the wealth as some kind of invasion of freedom not a redistribution of horded assets (much like that done in communism, irony!)

Maryland. The lowest it has ever been (in my memory/lifetime), temperaturewise is: -10 F -23 C Though it generally stays around 20 or so for average cold days (-6 C)

hahaha yeah, surely ive HEARD about maryland, but i guess its a lesser-known state. in my city (in norway... brrr...) its usually about -5C in the winters.. i live in western norway, though.. its kinda hotter here :P we dont even have snow yet! :O in the summer its usually around 20 C (cba to convert it into F)..

maryland sure does SOUND nice, though :P i really love hot places. ive been to CA and NY.. NY wins because of NYC, but you cant beat the californian weather!! well, id probably end up missing snow after a few years.. but still. if youre like me, youll definitely like the southern countries of europe.

As a Canadian, it pisses me off that you guys ruin your economy and then invest 800 billion dollars to try and fix it and yet WE'RE the ones who have a dollar worth less than the metal it's made of. As much as I'd love to support your economy by buying stuff off of american sites, I can't find it in my heart to spend 25% more than it would cost for you guys.

[QUOTE="blasted_panties"]It is currently in the process of becoming more favourable now that Bush is effectively gone and Obama has arrived.Theokhoth

Wow, the world is pretty damn superficial if they're judging an entire country, its profits, its exports, its people, and its overall value and position in the world based on its figurehead leader.:|

Not neccesarly, afterall Bush was voted into president based on popular vote back by electoral votes. His foriegn policy is awful and has basically lost favor with multiple nations with the fascist rhetoric "your either with us or against us".
