why does egypt dislike america? have they ever gone to war and taken things in there?

loco145

Israel.

I thought it was the USA reaching the quarter finals of the World Cup.  Yeah, that's the reason, they're just jealous they are best friends with Israel, why else would they be next to each other?

Wow, the world is pretty damn superficial if they're judging an entire country, its profits, its exports, its people, and its overall value and position in the world based on its figurehead leader.:|Theokhoth

Welcome to a brave new world...
Actually, you don't need to go too far to visit it.
Take a look here in the thread "If you absolutely HAD to nuke another country?"

if youre like me, youll definitely like the southern countries of europe.escapeoftheape
I like constant warmth/not cold to visit, but I needs the snow. And Maryland is right next to DC. Where the Capitol of the US is :x Also, from wikipedia: Maryland has the highest median household income of any state at $68,080 in 2007. We've got rich counties

It is! Great schools, great jobs, lots of random people (because of DC). We get seasons, but not crazy seasons. Things grow and die like they're supposed to. The weather is nice, the people are decent. Traffic sucks, though.

It's a very odd country. Foreign policy is terrible. I hate that nationalist ideals that some Americans have, I hate the insane hate of communism and socialism (as a firm socialist). Also, every American i've ever spoken to has had very strange views on ww2, acting as if America was the only country in the conflict.

Are you asking me what would have happened if America had never joined the war? I believe the allies would still have won.

*nod* I was asking both what if America hadn't joined, and whether you thought they may have eventually joined anyway.

Well, if American hadn't joined then the allies would not have lost. The Americans did not 'save out asses' as I have heard so many times. Would they have joined if it had not been for Pearl Harbour? Hard to say. Probably eventually... I'm really not sure.

Of course they would.. Pearl harbor wasn't some random attack, it was due to the fact that the United States cut Japan's supply of oil off. The US basically forced Japans hand in the matter, not the other way around.

Now that Obama is here, I am going back to favourable, but as of right now, it is unfavourable.  Why does the whole world have to rate their economic status in terms of a country that is sinking (or already has sunk into) a depression?

As I'm studying, I came across a Harris and Pew Research poll in my textbook showing the worlds view on America as either Favorable or Unfavorable. I decided to make the same poll here on Gamespot. The only difference is that in my textbook it lists favorable and unfavorable percentages by country. The_Mac_Daddy

I'm an american, and I'm pretty in love with my country. I noticed your sig bars, are you a New Orleanian?

What do you mean? The election celebrations world-wide made that pretty clear :P although it seems Russia and possibly Israel like us a little less

Yeah, and in 4 years they will hate Obama just as much, if not more than Bush.

I'd think russia would like us more having voted in a border line communist and all.

yeah, Obama may be somewhat socialist (but then again so is 95% of the American government, including John McCain and Palin), but he is far from communist. And Russia knows nothing of Communism or socialism anyway...the only thing socialist (or communist) about Russia was their propaganda...not their policies.

The US supported Israel's 7 day war against Egypt and Lebanon in which Israel, using advanced american military hardware utterly destroyed the Egyptian airforce as well as annex a huge chunk of Egypt

On a serious note. The US is twice the size of the EU, but the EU's population is almost twice as large as the US's. Crazy business right there.

I could spend sometime in US.

I liked :) there are lots of good things in US.

Of course, it is not perfect, but wait, the human being is not perfect independent of the place. You can find bad things in US, Europe, South America, Asia, Africa, even Antartida =P Shi* happens everywhere. It is actually hard to summarize a place in a single judgment.

I really admires US history before WW. The word freedom really had a deep meaning back then. After WW, when US became a superpower, I just think that meaning was disappearing. Freedom was overused as excuse for many things not related to freedom at all.

I have a question: why do many people in US freak out with the word socialism? I mean, ok, terrible things happened in the name of socialism, but terrible things also happened in the name of freedom, capitalism, catholicism blablabla. I really don't understand why is it so hard to have a public health care system but relatively so easy to accept billions of dollars from tax-payers to sustain army everywhere and bailout wall street.

PS: Holy shi*! Is shi* a censored word? Come on... -> that in part gets my point about the meaning of freedom
