I support gay marriage but this gay kissy kissy day at chic fil a is not helping their cause one bit. They plan on going into a fast food restaurant and acting like it's a gay night club. This isn't something to do at a family establishment especially when there will be kids whose parents will have to try to explain wtf is going on. This is giving gays a flamboyant image which isn't good.

The CEO of Chic Fil A donated some money to Christian organizations....not organizations that actively try to put down gays....and he's a Christian so he believes in the marriage of man and woman, not man and man. That is his opinion. He doesn't refuse service to gays or anything....

The gay movement has made some good ground, 40 years ago you would beat up by cops for being gay but now it's socially acceptable to come out of the closet. I think it's time for a drug rights movement

While i strongly support gay rights they're targetting the wrong people wasting time protesting a fast food chain is just plain stupid. Drug rights....MJ should have been legal so long ago.

If asked to leave and they don't vacate the premises they can be arrested for trespassing. I don't eat at Chil Fil A but all this nonsense is making me think I should start. I don't like groups telling people what they can and can not do.....

mingmao3046

If you're lucky enough to live in an insanely liberal area of the world with insanely liberal family and friends, you might not be harrassed on a daily basis. But then, I live in a liberal area and my sister was called homophobic slurs on a regular basis after shaving her hair to raise money for kids with cancer. She's not even gay I wish I were making this up.

So to sum everything up, I think it's perfectly fine to be obnoxious when protesting bigotry.

well as fun as that would be to watch (or at least it would be if the president himself was actually there) I'm pretty sure that the people working there won't give two sh!ts which makes this rather pointless. As far as parents having to explain what gay people sre to there kids? I really don't care about that consequence even a little bit because they are eventually going to find out that gay people exist.

so conclusion? This is pointless, but it would be funny if the president of the company would actually be there to see it happen.

Well its a free country, and of course if the establishments don't want them to they can always kick them out. I have nothing against peaceful protests, I have to admit sometimes its too much, like that case where a bunch of gay people ran into a church and started making out and dancing. I mean come on guys, really?

As long as they get to actively enjoy services as any straight people do then who cares what the president of that company thinks? Are they gonna come kiss-in at Mohammod Lee's house if he doesn't support gay marriage? What makes chic fill A guys view any more important than Mr. Lee's?

I think this whole entire 'controversy' is blow out of proportion. I don't necessarily like what Chick-fil-A gives a small portion of their profits to (while giving larger amounts to scholarship programs, and other truly chartiable causes, it should be noted). That being said, many of same people who are boycotting also don't like outrageous corporate executive bonuses of multinational corporations, or the terrible working condition where many of the things those corporations sell are made, but it doesn't stop them (or me honestly) from buying things from them. Don't get me wrong, i'm not saying all boycotts are bad, nor am I saying that you're an unintelligent person for participating i one, but I will say boycotting due to a simple politcal opinon is a bit petty.

He doesn't refuse service to gays or anything....

mingmao3046

Actually, he donated to organizations who specifically attack gay marriage and promote an anti-homosexual agenda.

Children will be seeing gay people kiss? Oh no, they might actually think that being gay is normal and acceptable! Who would want that?

Honestly, I dont want to watch straight or gay couples make out in a restaraunt. Never understood why people feel the need to do that in public places for all to see. Especially when most of them are god awful ugly.

Actually, he donated to organizations who specifically attack gay marriage and promote an anti-homosexual agenda.

Children will be seeing gay people kiss? Oh no, they might actually think that being gay is normal and acceptable! Who would want that?

What real power does this "agenda" have? At this point in the human experience you know where you stand on gay rights and an activism group isn't going to change your mind...

Not buying stuff from large corporations whose practices you disagree with is hard, I'll give you that. Try finding a shirt that wasn't made in a low-wage country, it's an enourmous pain (but really, I think that's just more proof that markets aren't truly free). When trying to buy ethically, though, I think it's important enough that people are trying, considering that should they become frustrated it's eceddingly easy to just do what everyone else does. That, and this is a bit of a tu quoque fallacy (you're against corporations, yet you buy from them), or at least is bordering on one.,

I don't see how boycotting is petty, though. If a company blatantly donates to a cause that you have an extreme moral disagreement with then why should you buy their product? If you did, your money would be going to support a cause that you are in opposition to, if you don't then that's less money going to that cause. What's the problem with that?

Do you think making out is something that only happens in gay night clubs?

Putting anti-gay legislation on ballots and helping to pass it, circulating pseudo-science that villifies homosexuals. If it has no power then why do they need people to donate money?

But honestly, if you dont' like a company or what some of its representatives do, then by all means boycott them. You have every right to show your displeasure.
