"Well it's quite simple really; if the earth is in fact flat, then the governments must be lying when they say it isn't"
If that site is'nt a joke , that is really astounding. That means ... when someone says something , they believe the opposite , just becase the person said it :?

You're Australian, you don't exist
its a mistake to believe anything the government says. they are only about controll and profit, nothing more. with that said if you don't experience/ research things for yourself before claiming fact or fiction then that is just one of the many foolish things followers do.
for all we know we could be parasites living on a piece of dun and the stars we see are just holes in the huge plastic garbage bag we are carried around in. ;-P
i do believe the world is round BTW...
[QUOTE="monkeytoes61"]Go to theflatearthsociety.com. These people believe the Earth is actually flat and the government is trying to hide it from you. Just go there, you will get some good laughs due to the stupidity of these people.muthsera666
And who determines what beliefs are stupid and which ones are allowed?
haha too funny.

Is that supposed to be some kind of joke?
Dissent is a good thing young skywalker. The world needs more of it.Dissent is good if you actually have something intelligent to say. But disagreeing just for the sake of disagreeing is like punching a puppy because you're bored.
I was merely calling into question the criteria upon which stupid is assigned to peoples' beliefs. Some believe in a magical being that created the entire world. Some believe in a pantheon of magical beings that dominate everyones' life. Some believe in no magical beings. Who determines which beliefs are stupid and which are acceptable?

(sig) Why don't they just give them the goddamn rice?
Because they don't have the rice to give... It's sponsor-based.

Oh my God! "4 elephants and a turtle"
AirGuitarist87
That's enough evidence for me to believe this is a fake site. That's taken from Terry Pratchett's Discworld series. A more amusing theory was how the world was made (mating season for the turtles, otherwise known as the Big Bang Theory).
You realize that the idea of the elephants and the turtle supporting the Earth are originally a religious conception, right? I think it was Hinduism that devised the idea, but I'm not positive.
Instead of stating that the idea came from a work of fiction, do a little research...

I, personally, don't have that much time.

Yes, because we all know religion is scientifically proven. I fail to see what your counter argument has to gain, other than showing that I can't be bothered researching Hindu beliefs.
Yep...
I'd rather not go on reading more of the contents of the site, but I can't help but keep reading it just to see their impeccable logic and reasoning.>_>

No, but you shouldn't assume that it's wrong because you don't have experience with it.

My point is that by basing the decision off of a misinformed opinion, he missed the historical implications of stated belief. I am not stating that the religion was write, but that it is a belief held by many people, not just something written in a book labeled by its author as fiction.
Haha, stupid people. Don't they know that we've seen the earth from space?ligerz76nasa photoshopped the pictures didnt u kno?

Have you seen a three-dimensional Earth from space?
Theoretically, it's not physically possible to see somthing in its three dimensions. A person can only see an object on a two-dimensional plane.

Again, I can't see the point of you telling me that. So I read more Terry Pratchett than I do Hindu beliefs, there's no need to call me out on it. You're just arguing for the sake of arguing which is on par with these people claiming the Earth is flat (if it's not a fake site).
Here's something interesting.
"Q: 'What's underneath the Earth?' aka 'What's on the bottom?' aka 'What's on the other side?"
"A: This is unknown. Some believe it to be just rocks, others believe the Earth rests on the back of four elephants and a turtle."
