The full breakdown is available on Box Office Mojo.com:

1 The Proposal$34,114,000 $34,114,000

2 The Hangover$26,855,000 $152,919,000

3 Up$21,336,000 $224,113,000

4 Year One$20,200,000 $20,200,000

5 The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3$11,300,000 $43,332,000

6 Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian$7,300,000 $155,953,000

7 Star Trek$4,700,000 $239,444,000

8 Land of the Lost$3,976,000 $43,672,000

9 Imagine That$3,100,000 $11,351,000

10 Terminator Salvation$3,070,000 $119,513,000

It was a three-way comedy movie fight for #1, but in the end, The Proposal took the top spot from The Hangover, which held it for over two weeks. The newcomer pulled in an estimated $34 mil, while the runner-up is STILL pulling in solid bank with an estimated $26.8 mil three weeks after it's opened. Warner Bros. must be estatic over their surprise hit. The other newcomer this week, Year One did a little over $20 mil, despite a lot of negative reviews.

Looking at the rest of the list...what else is there to say? Star Tres is still the top grossing title of the year so far, and Terminator Salvation is pretty much done with it's theatrical run. And judging from what's it's done so far, I wouldn't hold my breath for another installment in the franchise...maybe it's for the best.

This Wednesday features the only major release for this week, and it could possible wind up being the highest grossing film this year, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

It's a date film. They usually do solid business, mainly from guys being dragged kicking and screaming against their will by their ladies...especially when there's a better movie a few theaters down.

He's right, Date chick flick films do really well. Just look at "Hes just not that into you" or "Marley and Me" both of them were huge hits.

It might, (probably the only film coming out this year with the ability to do it) but I don't think it can. Potter's going into it's sixth film, while the Transformers is only going into it's first sequel. Plus, it did beat out Potter's last film back in 2007. It's going to be close.

Harry Potter will definitely get better reviews, but Transformers will sell more, in the States at least. The sad truth is that people would rather see robots beating the crap out of each other.

I'd much rather see Transformers. The sixth Harry Potter novel was awful.

Why don't date movies ever appeal to males in the slightest? They could at least make it watchable like most kid's films aiming jokes at the parents.

I had to buy a ticket for The Proposal to get into The Hangover because it was sold out...I felt sick buying a ticket for that movie. But it was worth it to see the hilarity that is The Hangover

I know a lot of people don't like Micheal Bay, or his films. I will say this about him...he puts in a lot of effort in making the films he does. As far as the stories in them, well...I'll leave it for you to decide.

It got beat by the Hangover in it's second week, but by no means is it considered a failure. It made a mint so far, and it's gonna pull in a lot more on DVD.

Over the top movies tend to have at least a few cool sequences. I was bored while reading all of Harry Potter 6. In my book, Armageddon wins by a landslide.

Rottentomatoes lists in MvA's entire theatrical life has raked in a box office of $195,220,748 - and that is of all 12 weeks it has been in theaters.
Up is only on its 4th week and it already has a box office of $224,113,000.

I don't know about you, but that's impressive.

Terminator Salvation is pretty much done with it's theatrical run. And judging from what's it's done so far, I wouldn't hold my breath for another installment in the franchise...maybe it's for the best.

I wouldn't say that. It grossed over a hundred million dollars. That's not bad. I gurantee you another Terminator within the next 5 years.

It's not pulling in the money that the studio was hoping for. Yes, it made $100 million, but not until after three weeks after it opened. The studio was banking on a much higher opening weekend instead of a mere $42 mil, especially for a high-profile summer film. If it had a chance, it woul've broken the $100 million mark within its first week. Plus, with an estimated budget of about $200 million, this franchise is just about done.

Wow....and people worried that the fact that Up's main character was an old man would keep kids away....yeah right. Just sad that Transformers 2 is probably going to make Up's sales go down.
