This really brought out the Ron Paul supporters out into drumming up the slippery slope fallacy. Then again, Pauls supporters do this a lot.

I didn't think you were, I was commenting on how Paul supporters were calling doomsday police state.

Even if this passed through congress, it wouldn't survive a veto or federal courts.

Not worried about the bill itself, more worred how its made it this far through the law making process.

It won't pass. Obama will never sign it into law. No sane president will.

As said before it's just slippary slow arguments being thrown out by Ron Paul supporters.

Hopefully your right but Obama has already done some questionable things. I would think he would veto it though seeing how its so close to election time and its so controversial so lets hope your right.

I bet it does pass. It gives a lot of power to government to detain anyone they want through the use of military power. Sure it says it wont effect American citizens, but why have such a bill then? I thought they could detain anyone who isnt a American citizen anyway?

I don't like it, but even without this they can probably get away with indefinite detention of people without trial and nobody will be held accountable for it.

Thats a good point but just like you said with being worried how its even made it this far...I mean this specific bill will more then likely not make it but we all know a couple revisions can be made to it and put up for vote again right? So the fact that it made it this far one time, whos to say it wont make it farther next time? I dont know im not to much into conspiracy and the NWO/Illuminati and all that but this does seem very odd to me that our senate would even pass something like this.

The thing is going to slow down quite a bit as news of it gets out.

No problem.

Any thread in which I can generalize and marginalize people that I don't agree with is a successful thread for me.

And its only a generalization or marginalization if it clashes with your ideologies.

making other people seem smaller in your mind to make your self seem bigger? do you have a microscopic penis or is there some other motive less common?

Internet is serious business for you apparently. Quite obvious by your lack of detecting sarcasm.

"Oh noes, someone insulted Ron Paul and his supporters!"

"Wait a minute, im a Ron Paul supporter and what he said offends me. What an ass hat"

Didnt you know Obama was the Antichrist? :P but seriously I dont know thats a good point and I want to know why the Senate passed it and what their reasons for it were. So far all I can see is so they can do whatever they want and arrest/kill/detain whoever they want. I see no good from it for the American people.

It's a huge deal. It shouldn't even be up for discussion. Let alone passed by the legislative body.
