Did you like them, and if you didn't like them, what was the reason?

I personally thought the original trilogy was better because they had better characters and a better storyline, and they didn't feel like they were being aimed directly at kids like the prequel trilogy.

They also weren't bombarded with CGI, lame dialogue and subpar acting.

I did, however, like Revenge of the Sith, which was possibly even better than Return of the Jedi.

The 3rd one was ok. I apologize for the 1st and 2nd ones being made even though I had no hand in their making.

They are enjoyable despite their obvious drops in quality compared to the originals. I do hold Ep. 3 in high regard though.

I liked Episode III the most. Besides some bad acting and dialogue I found it watchable.

Episodes 1 and 2 sadly bored me mostly and few good things happened in them.

E I: I enjoyed it, cept Jar Jar. Horrible, horrible decision.
E II: Didn't really enjoy it. Granted, I felt it was more of a character development movie, but it still didn't excuse it from poor performance.
E III: Probably my favorite out of the prequels.

Overall, I thought they were decent, but at the same time, I try to compare the two trilogies separately and among themselves.

The prequel is decent.

I remember they had all 6 movies playing one week on Spike (a movie a day) and after watching them back to back it becomes painfully obvious at how much better the OT is.

The only good thing I liked about it was the lightsaber battles, and I'll leave it at that.

I didn't care for any of them (story wise) and I thought third was a joke (especially the ending)

I like it. There are many aspects of the original trilogy that make it superior, but I think there are a few things in the prequels which stand out.

- The light saber battles are better. I laugh at the light saber battles in the original trilogy.

- I also think the characters are way more developed. I actually felt for the characters.

- The story is much deeper as a result of more devloped characters, especially in episode 3. The story is so dark which I really like.

Some things were much worse in the prequels like the acting and the script, in my opinion, which definitely prevent them from being flawless. But I definitely enjoy them nonetheless.

I thought the third was was a terrific movie. As for the trilogy as a whole..........

- Jar Jar Binks? Really? Are you serious?

- As much as I like him as an actor, Samuel Jackson as a Jedi? Really?

- While it was cool to see a young Darth Vader's childhood, what an annoying little snot he was.

- Ewan McGregor as Obiwan Kinobi.......... PERFECT casting.

In conclusion, after seeing the third one, I remember wondering what the heck was wrong with them while they were making the first two?

2 things really ****ed up the prequels and jar jar binks was tolerable to me compared to these reason. 1. anakin dosent matter kid or the older one they both sucked horribly and when the whole movie was bassicly about his downfall and turning into darth vader and they **** up that bad the movie is horrible...it would be like if rocky sucked at acting in rocky... 2. probably the biggest offense to me was how they explained the force... Instead of making it a unexplained quasi religious thing that resides in every person sort of like chi NAH lets just explain it with god damn bacteria...

I dont know what possessed Lucas to make them. I rank the original trilogy in my top 5 movies. But i understand why he made them. There are no excuses for the Indiana Jones 4th movie though.

I thought it was good, overall. The pacing was good, the CGI was good, the non-space battle scenes were excellent, the story was ambitious and on par with the original trilogy, and the characters, in theory, were more interesting. However, poor direction, poor writing, and a swing that went a bit too far into 'camp' means it didn't live up to its potential.

I found midichlorians to be an excellent way to explain the force. I had always wondered as a child, and an explanation was well accepted by me. I suppose this is one of those "LOST" endings kind of debates, where some liked the overtly religious tones and some didn't.

Didn't they give Anikin like a blood test or something in the first one? Stuff like that sort of made it, I don't know the word, less forcey-ish.

Midichlorians are part of the problem for me. Why cant the Force just be the Force? Its a mystical energy. Explaining them scientifically was a bad bad move.

Jar Jar was no where near as bad as the Ewoks. Jar Jar was useless, and everyone knew it. The Ewoks were these stupid little bear monsters with stupid traps that pretty much annihilated the Empire's best armed force. Suspension of disbelief = demolished. Camp level = over 9000. I mean, they're entertaining, but if Lucas has done anything in either trilogy that really should never have been included, it was the Ewoks. MAYBE they realistically could have taken out an AT-ST, and a small handful of people, but the Ewoks in EpVI canonically could have decimated the entire Rebel force and Imperial force at the same time if they wanted to, they way they were represented. It's just silly. I mean, Jar Jar was a stupid addition, but Star Wars has always had Campy inclusions, and Jar Jar was nothing close to as bad as the Ewoks, however adorable they may be

Eh, I suppose we'll just have to agree to disagree. I thought it was necessary. It would be like not explaining why some lightsabers differ in coloration, or not explaining how lightsabers are made. If the Force was just some internal, unexplained aura, then that would have been fine, but since it can be measured in displays of power such as mind control and telekinesis, I felt there was a necessity to explain why they're capable of doing such things, and why some are less capable than others. I suppose some found the mystery of it to be appealing though. *shrug* It was something that had bugged me through the original trilogy, and I was glad to see it resolved.

Episode 1 - Garbage (only good part was Qui-gon dieing and The lightsaber battle at the end) Episode - 2 Even worse (Battle at the end was the only redeeming part of that movie) Episode 3 Good movie overall kinda stupid how padme died because she had a "broken heart"

I didn't think they were as bad as some people say, i enjoyed all of them in the teathre, however i can see that they aren't nearly as good as the original trilogy and some of them have serious, serious flaws (Midichlorians, Jar Jar, Yoda being CGI and have fight scenes and overall Anakin) however i still think there have some redeeming factors, specialy Revenge of the Sith which it was quite good.

Ep1 - 7.0 fun movie but some annoying characters.

Ep2 - 6.5 boring in some parts, but decent action at the end.

Ep3 - 8.5 still some annoying elements, but it was pretty good.

but see i would be fine if they hinted to this even a little bit in the original trilogy...

but everything yoda said in the original trilogy while training luke and stuff just sounded like it was something you felt like the air theres no reason for being it just is you gotta have faith in the force and not delve to deep in it for power or it can corrupt you..

why did they just go the whole ****ing mile and just explain how the midichlorians can turn someone evil it dosent even make god damn sense...

[QUOTE="Lockedge"] I found midichlorians to be an excellent way to explain the force. I had always wondered as a child, and an explanation was well accepted by me. I suppose this is one of those "LOST" endings kind of debates, where some liked the overtly religious tones and some didn't.Lockedge

Midichlorians are part of the problem for me. Why cant the Force just be the Force? Its a mystical energy. Explaining them scientifically was a bad bad move.

Fair enough. Maybe its the way the did it in Menace i dont know. I just think its acceptable to say people are more powerful in the Force than others. And i dont think i would ever agree that the Ewoks were worse than Jar Jar Binks. They are both created to sell toys but they are on different planes of acceptableness. But its all opinions i guess.

I thought the first and third were alright. The second could have been better.

The thing is about the movies is they have to have all the filler crap done through the cartoon or some other medium. I hate that they crammed so much stuff into Ep. 3 just so they can say "DIS IS HOW HE BECAME DARTH VADER"

[QUOTE="Allicrombie"] That's not exactly what I meant. >.>

I know, that's what the "...but" was for. I know you didn't exactly appreciate Ep3.
Return of the Jedi was worse than The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones?mitu123
Yes, although AotC is pretty bad too. It's close between those two, but I found the acting, writing, plot progression, climax and non-space action scenes in RotJ to be horrendously sub-par. It was far too campy in spots, and too fragmented to tie it all together. It was less than the sum of its parts. The climax....oh dear lord I haven't been that disappointed in a movie since. At least Episode 3 was structurally sound enough for me to forgive the stupid "You're breaking my heart" and "NOOOOO!" moments, but Return of the Jedi didn't allow me that for its MANY pitfalls.

I actually enjoyed ROTJ for what it is and more so than Episodes 1 and 2 which took way too long to get good, though Episode 3 is probably better.
