Tip on first date

Okay, well I met this girl a good 6 months ago and we got on quite well. I added her on facebook and we haven't talked much since.

Last week we started talking on facebook, and it's been almost non-stop since. We are going out on a date on Thursday night. We are going to an Italian resturaunt in my local town, followed possibly by movies (I know, not very original) and then maybe going to a place near where I used to live.

I ask the people of OT if there are any suggestions or tips you can give me, as my history is shocking when it comes to dates. What have you done to win a girl over? Also, she's the local MP's daughter, so I do want to impress her. Thanks

I've seen the damage done by this first-hand with my sister and a couple of my good female friends. After seeing the way it effected them, I swore to never treat someone that bad.

Be funny, a little outgoing. Be comfortable and don't go put your hands all over her unless you feel that she is comfortable already(ie. grabbing hands, arm around shoulder). Bring up a good topic, and she will be talking for HOURS! And most of all, have fun. If she likes you, she likes you.

These are definitely your main goals to shoot for. I'd like to add that if you're driving, open her door for her, and above all else just be yourself. If you start acting like something you're not and the date turns to a relationship that turns to marriage, you don't want it all to be based on a false personality you created on the first date. I'm no expert on dating either but I'd like to consider myself a veteran. If you happen to get a 2nd date, plan something adventurous or fun to do, like Putt Putt golf, that one's almost always a winner.

LOL dates. Haven't been on one for 4 years. Here's one thats short and simple to remember. "Ask Questions". Never talk about yourself unless she asks BUT keep it simple and short. Use her questions to provide her a question. IE (she)What's your job TC? (U) Mine is "x" yours? Oh and after that just use her answers to ask more questions. IE (She) Im a server at "x" (U) Wheres that? How do you like it? How's tips? Repeat the process. Quite simple.

Be yourself, i know it's been said here already but if you are yourself than you have no reason to look back and ask yourself why you failed ... you are who you are.

Avoid spending too much and planning too much on the first date... I imagine you will be paying for it all and if it doesn't work out, you're the one whose lightened the pocketbook. And if you plan a big lengthy date and don't hit it off right away; you'll be stuck on an all nighter with someone you're not even interested in.

Unless you are 30 she isn't looking for the kind of guy that will be a responsible earner for your family of five. She wants someone that she can have fun with - so have fun. Act like you'll be having a great time whether she is there or not. If you are funny, make fun of her. If you aren't, you'll probably screw that up. 1.)Keep the conversation flowing
2.)Read the signs she's giving off. This is one of these "trust me, you'll know" sort of things
3.)Know your best quality and use it
4.)Have interesting hobbies. (Video games, reading, music, and playing guitar don't count and are either uninteresting and/or common.) If you don't, make things up and use this as an excuse to go try something new
5.)Remember funny and entertaining stories from your life. Especially ones where you did something bad*** with funny consequences. Women love that.
6.)Don't talk about sex unless they're odd like that. If they are, I'd keep my member clear or else you might enter a hostile fire zone in more ways than one.
7.)Unless you know they are interested, don't talk about books or games. And try to only briefly discuss movies or music.
8.)Stand out in a positive way. You need to be different then all the other guys but not in a weird way. Best to refer to 4 for this.
9.)Don't be afraid to poke fun at her. I don't know why, but they love it. I've had 10 times more luck playfully insulting them than complimenting them.

Honestly, I don't know how our genders have put up with one-another for so long. Maybe it's because we as a species are determined to have angry sex until we produce someone that's not as stupid as the other gender. Clearly that's working quite well.
