Why is is that you own an iPod? Is it because everybody else owns them? Are they only MP3 player you know? You genuinely think they are the best MP3 players or for any other reason.

I just want to know out of curiosity because I don't own an iPod- I own a Zen Micro soon to be a Zen X-fi because I thought that Zen players had better features, more choice for downloading music and were better value for money (I got my 6GB Zen Micro for £140 in 2005, £20 cheaper than a 6GB iPod Mini at the time.) iPods are not always the best solution, so how come you own one?

Space. My 80gb iPod cost me 160 quid. It was a good deal at the time so I got it. Plus I've grown to be comfortable with iTunes and the clickwheel and it can hold lots of DVDs for travelling. I don't give a crap whether the whole world has got one or not, my iPod has more space than my computer and I use it for holding files and work.

I don't like the iPod.

Why?

No removable storage.

Any MP3 player with removable storage is better for me. Also, other MP3 players such as Sony's Walkman have a customizable graphic equalizer and a bit rate upscalar that enhances the quality of your sound files.

I've owned about 7 different MP3 players...and the iPod I own is among the best. It's got a good intuitive design, ease of transferring files (if you read the manual), and nearly unanimous compatibility with most accessories and software. For someone who isn't an audiophile, and who doesn't enjoy being 'different' for the sake of being different, the iPod has always been a smart choice.

Because no other MP3 player has an app store with applications that are both useful and fun to use at the same level of quality as the iPod.

If you are referring to being able to store files on the player and retrieve on another computer...you can do that with an iPod. You just have to 'Enable Disk Use', then you can navigate to it and retrieve files. This is on Windows...can't speak for Macs.

When I got my first iPod, it was the only thing available that was getting good ratings. and that thing was a brick of durability (20gig ipod photo) the only reason I updated to the 120 gig after christmas was because it just didn't have the space anymore(I have at least 600 cds). I'll admit that the newer ipods aren't as durable (obviously it's gotta lose some protective ability when they get that small) but I've yet to have a problem with mine and because of the long lasting ability of the other one (still works after 4 years of falls, and I mean some haarrddd falls) I went with iPod again. Seemed easier than having to transfer all my music around. It was also cheaper than the zune at the time, and I'm familiar with iTunes and comfortable with the way the iPod works.

No, I am talking about removable storage from the device itself. This way, your MP3 player is basically future proof. You can continue to upgrade your storage without spending money on a new unit.

1. Download movies and convert them to ipod formats. 2. Download music. 3. Import both to ipod. 4. Now you own something better than pretty much any MP3 player.

Yeh I've got an iPod classic (my first iPod) and a while ago it stopped working properly so I plugged it into my computer to get the music back off it and it worked again. I was pretty impressed with that and Hero's done that too to sort his out.

I was also very impressed with the headphones - usually headphones last a couple of months (even though I'd fork out 15 quid on them) whereas my iPod headphones lasted a year and that's only cause I stood on them twice. My left ear can't hold earbud headphones so I always had to faff about getting other styles but the iPod earbud ones fit fine :)

cause all my other mp3 players broke. memory error. even if i clear the whole thing, it will still say it's full, or won't delete (like the song will be gone, but the name will be there. so when you go to play the song, it'll go "file not found") i been threw 3 different mp3 players. then i got an ipod.

I had a 20GB and could fit about 4000-5000 songs at 160kbps. I realized that I don't need every single byte of digital information I own at all times. I don't need 5000 songs at my fingertips. It was overkill for me. I spent more time finding music to listen to than actually listening to music. And after almost 2 years of using my iPod that way, I took a look at the play counts and realized that I had listened to, at most, 50% of the tracks on the device. I went and got a Creative Zen 8GB and couldn't be more happy. Different strokes for different folks...but I will never buy a large capacity DAP again. Waste of money, in my opinion.

Because iPods were the most widely known, I suppose. I didn't actually think about it at all, I wanted an MP3 player, the iPod looked decent, and I haven't had anyproblems with it since, so if I broke it or something I would probably get an iPod again.

I wanted an mp3 player with a lot of space, so I got a 120GB Ipod. It was the only thing that had that much memory and still sold for a decent price. It's not got as good sound as my Walkman, but overall, I'd say its better.

I'm the opposit, I love having all the music at my fingertips With the amount of cd's I have, I find the iPod is the on;y device that really adequately organizes it so that it's always easy and fast to find what I want. A lot of people tell me I don't need it all with me, but everyday I'll get the urge to listen to something different than the day before, I never know what I'm going to listen to, but I know I want it to be available when I figure it out. it helps when I'm on the road too, movies, and all my cd's are better than me having to lug an excessive amount of discs around when I can have them all conveniently in the palm of my hand

No I got my iPod because I heard this thing about being able to listen to college lectures off of it. So I got one, needless to say I didn't use it for that! But it's about the music selection that makes your iPod unique.

I have an ipod touch and it's a lot of fun - lots of good apps, and a really neat interface. Apple also came out with this thing called "genius" which makes automatic playlists based on a song of you're choice, it's a very nice feature. I haven't really looked into other mp3 players though, so I don't know much about what they offer.

Because after hating the iPod since I first saw it I actually used someone's and used iTunes and saw they were good products to use. Now I have an iPhone, which I also thought was going to be a horrific idea until I saw my friend use it and after I played around with it.

I don't have one but i think for most people they just go with it cause it's fashionable, only in a few cases is the ipod actually the best option, if you need a high capacity player it's prett much the only option.

Why I own one? Because I bought one. iPod Touch. I had a creative one before it. Bought the iPod Touch because I knew it was possible to install apps on it, it had a web browser and watching videos on it was good.
