I have noticed in this site, and in the web generally that very few know how to write a correct sentense, and even worse, very few care to do so. Almost every text that is posted is full of grammatical and spelling errors. I'm not an English speaker my self, yet I try my best to avoid as possible any errors. And even if I eventually do some, at least I try not to. I don't understand why people don't care anymore to be expressed using proper English. Is proper use of language old-fashioned ?

It would be very interesting for me to read your opinions, especially those who are Americans or English speakers generally.

Edit: For anyone who is interested to point out my own grammatical mistakes, that I made in the paragraph above, there have already been posted some replies containing a detailed report of my mistakes, that really covers well the subject. So you probably might be already covered by their analysis.

The cretins who don't use proper English (when it's their first language) will give you excuses like, 'Uh, itz not liek im righting a term paper, lol" and things of that nature. I didn't think that it required that much extra brainpower to type in grammatically correct sentences with no intentional spelling mistakes.

I try my best. Sometimes I miss mistakes in word usage. It is not that I do not know when to use "their" or "there , but rather that I post to fast to think about it. I also tend to make errors in sentence structure and stuff. But I do try .

I don't see what would be so hard about hiring some members of the Grammar Gestapo to filter through each post. If it is incoherent the first read-through, then it is rejected with a message involving parental shame, lack of brain, and being persistent after you are smarter. Then again, I like the OT active.

I have a Gamespot assistant who takes my dictation and reads back any responses. All my mistakes are actually his, although I sometimes have to spell out the big words. When I have to type myself (like on holidays such as Chinese New Year), I take great care with my spelling and grammar.

I try my best to watch my spelling, especially when arguing, because people on the Internetz will pick it apart. Guaranteed.

Most of the time I don't capitalize, though. I usually just can't be bothered.

Most (not all) of my spelling errors are typing mistakes. However I am not big on my own grammar,or that of others as long as its readable and makes sense. If everyone stopped to spellcheck every single post,OT would turn into a very slowmoving boring place.

Honestly this is the extent of my computer literacy. I personally am pretty slow on a computer to begin with, and typing has never been my strong point.

I have noticed on this site, and on the Internet in general, that very few people know how to write a gramatically correct sentence, and, even worse, that very few people care to do so. Almost every text that is posted is filled with grammatical and spelling errors. English is not my first language, yet I try as much as possible to avoid any errors. And, even if I eventually do make some errors, at I have tried not to make those errors. I do not understand why people do not care to express themselves using proper English. Is proper use of a language old-fashioned?

It would be very interesting for me to read your opinions, especially from those who are Americans, or English speakers in general.

I am sorry-that was a really mean move by me:|

That was mean indeed. I'm glad though that you proved me wrong. Fortunately there are some people like you, who know efficiently how to use their native language. But I'm afraid that you missed the point. You shouldn't be so much concerned on how a non English speaker tries to express himself in English, but rather how the language is purposely violated by many members of the internet community, especially from those that English is their mother language, as they don't have any excuse for doing so.

PS#1: Of course things maybe worse on other sites, but if that's the case, then this is very sad.

PS#2: Naturally this is not an English language problem. I see the same symptoms in my own mother language too. But since English is a common language for the whole world, any issue related to it has great importance.
