So, what do you do/say/ect that people would say you take too seriously? You can also state what you think others take too seriously. I'm hardly ever serious unless the situation deems it, which is usually in emergencies or with people who don't like to joke around. I always think you only live once, you have to enjoy it, and there is no sense being 100% serious all the time.

People bashing public transit and non-auto-oriented infrastructure planning I tend to take pretty seriously. I can joke about most things, though.

I find many folks take forum moderation WAY too seriously. It should be such a non-issue in someone's day-to-day life, but folks tend to act like it's of utmost importance. As for things people don't take seriously enough...I'm kind of drawing a blank. Most of the time, I guess politics would be the "thing", but it's everyone's right to vote or not. In the end, I'd rather have someone that doesn't care stay away from the polls.

I still think we should be allowed to curse, just not at someone.

Dude... it's because when I'm suspended, I tend to walk around my town aimlessly with a 1000-yard stare. Sometimes I shout at fire hydrants. There's no normalcy until that suspension period has ended. It's a big deal! Don't attempt to downplay it.

People who have opinions get moderated too.

I think everyone takes everything to seriously, what's done is done, what happens happens. I'm not saying its bad to be sad or angery about something, but after like a month you should be over whatever it is.

Just saying.

I'm a very opinionated person obviously...

Clearly you are not fit to be a mod then, if you don't know the one rule of the internet. It's serious business. :D

Really, the song in my head during those times is "I can't live if living is without you" my Mariah Carey on a constant loop.

When I feel like I take things too seriously, I know I need to watch a silly, but good comedy film.

I take issues of childhood abandonment very seriously; my father was a run-off before I was born - I turned out better in his absence, but everyone isn't so lucky. I also take jokes about the Holocaust very seriously and feel it's very disrespectful to make tasteless jokes about it. I try to not dictate the priorities of others, so I never say such-and-such should be more important to people.

I think people take horoscopes too seriously. I don't mean people that read them. I mean people that make fun of people that read them. For example, my sister likes to read her horoscopes for fun. She doesn't believe in them, but finds them entertaining and interesting. She tells me one that she read that day, and some random guy that we've never met before overhears this and says "Ha! I can't believe people are still dumb enough to listen to those". I mean, really? This was so troubling to this guy that he had to call her dumb in public? I'm the only one that's allowed to do that!

This actually falls into a whole "people taking what other people are doing too seriously" category. I don't get why people feel compelled to tell others off because they're doing something slightly weird or wrong. Why can't I just buy my Peter Pan peanut butter without someone telling me I should have bought natural peanut butter because it doesn't have "hydrogenated oils"? (or whatever that is). Clearly you care more about what you put in your body than I do. If I wanted the advice, I would have asked, else, shut up.

What do I take too seriously? Probably the "people taking what other people are doing too seriously" issue. Hell, I just made a small rant about it which is about as serious as I take things.

I personally think I take school too seriously. I'm not really content with my grades unless they're A's. I think some people take online gaming way too seriously. Especially this kid.

Debates are welcomed, please don't take offense if someone disagrees.Symphonycometh

When someone says "I disagree", my brain interprets it as "your opinion is stupid and you should feel bad for having such a stupid opinion but you don't feel bad because you're too stupid to know your opinion is stupid". How can I not take offense to that?

Alot of people take themselves way too seriously, especially people I'm associated with...I just enjoy life and basically learn to laugh at and enjoy the finer things in it. Taking yourself too seriously is the sign of a massive ego syndrome or lack thereof

Ironically, I think sometimes the mods take the rules a little too seriously. For example, I got moderated for telling someone they were being a bit naive because apparently that's too offensive. It's not that I'm angry, I'm just irked when I think a moderation is unfair.

But yeah, I don't think people take politics seriously enough.
