Thats the thing, I need at least some reason to care about the characters. I didn't relate to single person in the movie, and they sure as hell weren't likeable people. You can't lack both of those qualities entirely and expect me to care about the characters....
LostProphetFLCL
I see what you mean. What can I say? I'ma just a total sucker for characters. :P
You guys have crappy lists. 300 sucked? Alright it's obvious all of you are saying that because you don't want to be part of the "bandwagon" and stand out by saying you think it sucked. Give me a break.
But here's some crappy movies popular at school that I thought sucked:
I didn't give a damn about a single character in Pulp Fiction, so any character development was made moot by the fact that they never interested me at all.
GameFreak315
I guess there enlies the problem. :P I usually begin a movie caring about characters, and because I found the characters relatable (not that I'm a hitman or anything...>_>) also helped. That's just me, though. :)
Gamefreak; You're so nice man. Putting up with someone who has no understanding of the movie and is saying it sucks, and when you answer him you do it politely and calmly ending each post with a smile. If only more people in real life could be like you. :)If you think Brad Pitt is a bad actor, you should watch 12 Monkeys. Also, because my uncle is in it for all of 30 seconds.crucifine
Brad Pitt is a damn good actor and 12 Monkeys is definitely a cool movie!

Well, everyone can have opinions. Pulp Fiction has a 95% on RottenTomatoes, and that's because 5% of the critics didn't like it. It's only logical that one would find one of the 5% at some point. :P And it would have been different if he hadn't given any reason at all. I probably wouldn't have said anything, actually, but he did point out that he couldn't identify with the characters, making it hard to care for them, which basically destroyed the whole movie, because, well...the movie's about the characters. :P

This is why Gamefreak was voted "Nicest Poster" at the OTCars. :D
...says the guy who has a video up of him in front of a camera on his profile page.Maybe the ones my friends wrote, but the movies I did were very good. Like I said before the ones I did were Anchorman, Napoleon Dynamite, Fight Club, Twister and Pirates Of The Caribbean. You can clearly see a rise in quality with the ones I did over the other ones.Headbanger88
Could you love yourself anymore?

From what I understand from your review, you didn't like the movie because it wasn't all about fighting and you don't like Brad Pitt. Did I miss anything? Based on what you wrote about the movie it seemed like you didn't understand the movie.

The movie was about a guy whining because he was an insomniac. Everything you saw in the trailers for this movie was barely in the movie. Not really. If I remember correctly, the trailer tells of a guy who meets another guy and starts clubs where guys fight. Is that not the storyline? Not as specific as the story goes, but definitely not false advertising. In my opinion, they made the right choice by leaving most of it to the actual movie so that the audience could view what led to the clubs, and what followed.
Fight Club?
...
That was a very well written book/movie. It was entitled Fight Club because of the fact that most of the things that happened in that movie began/revolved around the club.
If you want fighting, watch a Steven Segal movie.
How in the hell does something as subjective as movies (or music, for that matter) become overrated? Can people actually be duped into thinking they like something when they actually don't? I really don't get it. If a large audience enjoys a movie, is it up to pretentious elitists who hate everything that's popular to decide when something doesn't deserve the praise it gets?firebird23
Because they have "good taste"
Which, BTW: Is an even more retarded way of saying "my opinion is better than yours"
Well, guess the hell what? I love Napoleon Dynamite. It's one of my favorite movies of all time, I don't think I've ever laughed so hard in my life. I also thought that Anchorman was hilarious, I enjoyed the first two Pirates movies (third was awful, third was terrible...couldn't stand it). I liked Jurassic Park, I liked The Matrix (at the very least I enjoyed the concept, the second two movies mucked it up). I like the original Star Wars trilogy, as well as Episode III. (I was terrible and II was okay) I very much dislike the Lord of The Rings movies. I liked Spiderman 3 (actually, it was just okay, but I enjoyed it), I hated Superman Returns, and that is my opinion. It isn't a good opinion, or a bad opinion, it's just an opinion.
Pirates is the only one that belongs on that list.....
You forgot Scarface and Pulp Fiction....
LostProphetFLCL
GASP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THATS... NO

Your summary made it sound like the movie was supposed to be about a fightclub, it's not. It's about a mentally disturbed man. It may not seem obvious throughout most of the movie, but I'm pretty sure it's given away eventually.

The movie was about a guy whining because he was an insomniac. Everything you saw in the trailers for this movie was barely in the movie. It was false advertising. It's a half minute clip of a movie that's over 2 hours long. They can't tell you everything that happens in the movie in a period of time that short. It's not false adveritising, it's smart advertising. If you're going to give away a movie in a period of 30 seconds, what's the point of watching the movie?Crash sucked. The Departed wasn't as good as people thought it was. No flaming here.I can't belive Crash and The Departed aren't on that list.
*waits for flames to start*

Whoever wrote that doesn't know what is highly rated. Superman Returns was ok, but it never got acclaim - neither did Twister or Miami Vice. Anchorman is funny when you're slightly drunk and with friends who just want to see something stupid - the film never tried to be anything more than that and that's why some people like it so much. I remember seeing Jurassic Park for the first time and being very impressed; nothing like it had been done before, the plot and characters were pretty good. (the second wasn't all that bad either)
As for Fight Club; I've never been a great fan of Brad Pitt but he played the role fantastically, as did Edward Norton. The story was great and the ending unusual. It's in my top 20 (maybe 10) but either way this guy hasn't a clue.
Maybe he has a point with Pirates.
My top 10 overrated films of all time:
-Spiderman (any of them)
-Any Star Wars other than Empire
-Titanic
-King Kong (the new one)
-Moulin Rouge
-A beautiful mind
-Gangs of New York
-Maybe Pirates of the Caribbean
...I can't think of any more, most of the time people as a whole get it right as to whether or not a film is good.
The writing style is also very poor, akin to that of a freshman in high school, maybe even the equivalent of a 7th or 8th grader.-MlKE-Maybe the ones my friends wrote, but the movies I did were very good. WTF! Putting down/ saying that you're better than your fellow writers? Great teamwork there! [/sarcasm]
Anyways....Jurassic Park isn't overrated (IMO anyways..). 300 was kick-ass but WAAY overrated, people would probably say it was good without even seeing it (btw...WTF WAS WITH THE ORACLE SCENE...WAS THAT REALLY NEEDED?! Also too much slow motion...). Another overrated movie is Borat, it was pretty funny, but not that funny. 'Nuff said.
Napoleon and Pirates is definalty over-rated.Mercury_May2112no way man napolean is my 3rd favorite movie! (behind waynes world and talladaga nights)
Hmm, lets see....
Fight Club, Borat, Top Gun, any Shrek movie, Big, last 2 Pirates of the Carribean movies (Curse of the Black Pearl was the only good one), and any Woody Allen movie.
I think you should take all of them off except Napolean Dynamite and make the topic THE most overrated movie of all time.
Unlike Tom Cruise, who is attractive to women but is a terrific actor who has made plenty of good movies, Brad Pitt just relies on his looks to make people think that he's a good actor.
wth ...I Hate Tom cruise he think he is all that and no my mom and her friends don't like him either , Bradd Pitt on the other hand.
