I would say
1.Superunknown Soundgarden
2.Ten Pearl Jam
3.King for a day, fool for a lifetime Faith No More
4.Jar of Flies Alice in Chains
5.VS Pearl Jam
Yeah I know all those bands are pretty mainstream and grungy, so sue me. This is all opinion.
This topic is locked from further discussion.
Radiohead - OK Computer
Faith No More - Angel Dust (good to see another fan around here!)
Ash - 1977
Mogwai - Young Team
Nirvana - In Utero
Tell me about it. They had some Worst Bands Ever thread here the other day, and some fool said Faith No More!Uneducated fool.Ranteal
That's probably because he's an idiot who judges the band on the song Epic, because that's pretty much the only song that non-FNM fans know. As a FNM fan I even have to admit that Epic really isn't that great... the vast majority of their other material makes up for it though, especially Angel Dust and some of the songs on Album of the Year (Stripsearch is amazing)
Top 5 of the 90's?
Hrm.
1. Godspeed You! Black Emperor - F#A#oo
2. Radiohead - The Bends
3. Neutral Milk Hotel - In The Aeroplane Over The Sea
4. Matthew Good Band - The Audio of Being
5. Radiohead - OK Computer
6. My Bloody Valentine - Loveless
Six because listing five is too hard.
Versus - The Stars Are Insane
Ani Difranco - Dilate
Drop Nineteens - Delaware
The Stone Roses
Saint Etienne - So Tough
...although honestly it's impossible to make an adequate tiny list like this. This really only scratches the surface of my favorite bands from the 90's,

I love 4 of those. I don't particularly care much for Neutral Milk Hotel, though...
Although F#A#oo is pretty much the most depressing album ever, and Loveless just blows my mind every time I listen to it, especially Sometimes
I agree with the guy who said "F#A#oo" and "In The Aeroplane Over The Sea"
Those two bands pwn everything.....except for....
"Still Life" by Opeth
"None So Vile" by Cryptopsy
and
"Transmissions From The Satellite Heart" by The Flaming Lips

Oh I thought this was about personal opinions. Sorry.
Ahhh 90's my favorite years in music. Im actualy surprised by some peoples choices but i think the top 5 albums of the 90's are as follows
1) Siamese Dream-Smashing Pumpkins (WTF, why hasnt anyone said anything about this album? Its considered to be one of the best albums of all time and 4 songs of the album are on the top 100 best solos of all time, the only album to have more than 2!)
2) Nirvana-Nevermind (although being a hardcore Nirvana fan, i like In-Utero better)
3)Pearl Jam-Ten (great album, although VS comes as a close second)
4) Radiohead-The Bens ( best Radiohead album of the 90's imo, even better than OK Computer)
5) Alice in Chains-MTV Unplugged (considered to be one of the best unplugged shows, and it was Alice in Chains last show together.)
The Stone Roses
Lord_Daemon
this would almost certainly make my list, only, it was released in 1989.
My list:
My Bloody Valentine - Loveless
Neutral Milk Hotel - In The Aeroplane Over the Sea
Pavement - Slanted and Enchanted
Weezer - The Blue Album
The Flaming Lips - The Soft Bulletin
Honourable mentions:
Guided By Voices - Bee Thousand
Bonnie "Prince" Billy - I See a Darkness
Slint - Spiderland
Radiohead - OK Computer
Beck - Odelay
You seem to be like the only person who ever calls Pablo Honey "good". :P Anyways Loveless by My Bloody Valentine, The Aeroplane Over The Sea - Neutral Milk Hotel, Sublime - Sublime, The Fragile - Nine Inch Nails and I can't think of a Fifth at the moment..Ok Computer
The Bends
Pablo Honey
The Aeroplane Over The Sea
Nevermind
-Austin-
01. Orbital - In Sides02. Future Sound of London - Dead Cities
03. Aphex Twin - Richard D. james Album
04. Squarepusher - Hard Normal Daddy
05. Ken Ishii - Jelly Tones
I can't stop at only 5! 06. Bjork - Homogenic
07. Air - Moon Safari
08. Daft Punk - Homework
09. Underworld - dubnobasswithmyheadman
10. Moloko - Do you like my tight sweater?
And a couple more: 11. Tricky - Maxinquaye
12. Lamb - Debut
13. Everything but the Girl - Walking Wounded
14. Massive Attack - Protection
15. Chemical Brothers - Dig your own Hole
And how could I possibly forget about those 2 masterpieces: 16. Goldie - Timeless
17. Roni Size Reprazent - Newforms
TheFlush
Great, great list, although I'd argue that selected ambient works 85-92 > Richard D. James Album and lifeforms > Dead Cities. Also, it's missing Tri Repetae / Anvil Vapre / Amber from Autechre.
