[QUOTE="campzor"]the list fails..its universally claimed that canada and australia are in the top 5 countries to live in... Australia which i live in :)LostProphetFLCL
Australia's censorship, tendency to get things like games WAY late, ridiculously dangerous wildlife, and areas of extremely harsh climate make it not to desirable for me. I do want to visit that underground city though....
Censorship isn't a huge issue, we have maybe two games banned each year, of which neither are high profile. The rest that get RC'd have the order later reversed. Same is true of the lateness of releases, we get some late, but others (Halo 3) we get earlier. Dangerous wildlife applies only if you're trekking through bushland with shorts and no socks. It's all snakes and spiders, they don't do crap unless provoked. Climate? Stay in the south, it's lovely here. You may have been able to tell that I like Australia Therefore: Australia Canada Italy USA EnglandUS: Lots of great nature areas as well as some of the most interesting cities on earth. Health care and education system are decent but nowhere near as good as many European countries and Canada.

I am assuming you are basing the level of health care on the fact it is free and not the quality. The US has the leading doctors in nearly every field from the recently passed Dr. Debakey who created the ICU, the ER, and played a major role in the CV field to Dr. "Red" Duke, one of the worlds leading educators and surgeons. One can not leave out Dr. Jarvik, the inventor of the artificial heart. The world's largest research and educating hospitals are found here along with the huge role the US Military plays in the development of new equipment. The new heart VADs which can buy CV teams more time to save patients lives. Etc, etc, etc.....
You forgot Norway, which is ranked number one in the world for best place to live. Population is small, stable economy, pretty wealthy, etc. Also the United States is a must as well. Maniacc1
The U.S.? I don't think so. Our standard of living is too low.
Do I sense racism there?[QUOTE="th3warr1or"][QUOTE="swazidoughman"]

Tokyo, like most densely populated Asian cities, is kinda nasty.
swazidoughman
It's not racism, I'm not calling Asian people nasty.
I'm saying that Cities with a really dense population (which lots of them happen to be in Asian countries) tend to be not the greatest place when it comes to standard of living, and sanitary conditions.
Very untrue. The denser the city in an industrialized country, the cleaner it is. This is due to urban planning infrastucture and GIS analysis. If you ever go to an area of the world in which the cities are all sprawled out (like many in the U.S.), you'll notice that they are very much unclean.
I think you're talking about large cities in places like Bangladesh, where people build houses on top of one another.

Believe it or not some of us love our lives in the US even when the rest of the world insults and places us into ignorant stereotypes on a daily basis.

Don't forget the effect cheese has on your digestive system. Even though Ilove cheese.
You have to have America. It has the strongest economy in the world, strongest military, biggest national treasurey, used to ahve tons of jobs and will again after the recesion, and has freedoms a good number of countries dont have.ieatnoobs18
I wouldn't say we have the 'strongest' economy in the world, we have the largest, but due to the massive growth rates since World War II we are more liable in an economic disaster. The harder they come, the harder they fall (also, most European countries have more freedoms than we have FYI). And despite having the biggest national treasury, we also own the most debt in the world by about 4 times the next country in line.
Canada! Most definitely. I just read an article in some Maclean's magazine and they made a pretty good argument. The articles' catchphrase caught my eye. "Canada vs. The World. Canadians Do It Better. They're wealthier than Americans, live longer than the Swedes, more industrious than the Germans, have more lovers than the Italians, and eat better than the French." I know none of this is probably true. But it's been proven their economy, health, education, public safety and living standards are ranked extremely high amongst the countries in the world. Canada is one of the best places on Earth, in my opinion!

How exactly did Italy and Belgium get on your list? Espically Italy considering the amount of crime in the country andthe seriously questionable government, as well as some very empovrished areas. It's not exactly going to make the top 5 over places like Britain.
In that case USA is right at the bottom. I say Holland, Canada or New Zealand. If I could speak Italian then Italy. You're basing a countries merits on cheese?
