I hate when people put "war" in the title because then my username makes me have to post in it.
1. war of the world
2. i am legend.(i think it counts)
I really can't think of many right now.
idk, are they really "war" movies? Then I can even put in Godfather since it has gang "wars"I hate when people put "war" in the title because then my username makes me have to post in it.

The Bridge on the River Kwai I'm done here.mo0ksiI really like that movie too. My like of it has been a little lessened because I learned that guys who were POWs in Burma hate it because of historical inaccuracies, and I want to be loyal to them. The big historical inaccuracies are 1) the Japanese were great engineers, and they wouldn't have needed any help designing and building a decent bridge 2) if a POW had stood up to the Japanese like Alec Guiness' character does, there would have been no battle of wills like in the movie, they would have just killed him.
Apocalypse Now
Lawrence of Arabia
Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb
The Great Escape
The Hunt For Red October
I dunno if some of the choices are a stretch or not. Tehcnically they all happen in a time of war (except for maybe Red October, but it's awesome so it doesn't matter).
I fancy myself a war movie connoisseur, and have seen just about every one under the sun (foreign, domestic, new and old).
In no particular order
1) Longest Day
2) A Bridge Too Far
3) Saving Private Ryan
4) Tae Guk Gi (S. Korean)
5) Stalingrad
I honestly can't put Apocalypse Now in since my first viewing was of the awful, AWFUL Redux version, and it forever soiled the movie in my eyes.
Runner ups:
6) Kelly's Heroes (Woof woof WOOF!)
7) Enemy at the Gates
8 ) All Quiet on the Western Front
9) Black Hawk Down
10) 9th Rota (Russian)

I can see how you may like it a little less because of that. There are some inaccuracies in some of my favorite films. I just try to not mind it too much and remember that films are always about entertainment.[QUOTE="mo0ksi"]The Bridge on the River Kwai I'm done here.aransom
that is interesting. Because thats basically why that movie is my favourite. It was Epic !My favorites, in no certain order:
Patton
Memphis Belle
Midway
The Great Escape
The Longest Day
I think everyone should watch Saving Private Ryan, or at least the Omaha Beach segment, at least once, but it's too gruesome to be one of my favorites.

Ugh a limit to 5? Five I love are...
[QUOTE="BigSexy63"]Black Hawk Down needs to be in there somewhere.Snipes_2I agree, and Platoon wasn't an accurate Portrayal of war at all.
1. The Vietnam war was very different from other wars.
2. How so? How was it not accurate? It was a pretty damn accurate Vietnam War movie. What do you think was a good Vietnam movie?
Loved all of those except for Thin Red Line. I just didn't like the pacing. Also, it's good to see some EatG love here. Alot of people despised it for the love plot, but the first twenty minutes of that movie alone make up for it, in my eyes.We Were Soldiers, Saving Private Ryan, Enemy at the Gates, Thin Red Line, A Bridge too Far

Yeah, Enemy at the Gates was excellent. I dunno, I really liked Thin Red Line. If I could add a sixth it would be Black Hawk Down. Delta were just freakin' awesome in that movie.

We were soldiers was a good action movie..Not a good Vietnam movie.
It was based off of a book, but they removed many aspects of the book, not to mention it was not a very interesting movie, as opposed to other Vietnam movies that portray something of importance.
My head forgot about The Longest Day. Too bad I can't list six, I'll give it an honorable mention along with Letters from Iwo Jima.1. Saving Private Ryan
2. The Longest Day
3. A Bridge Too Far
4. The Hurt Locker
5. Platoon

I LOVED Sam Elliot's character in it. Such an awesome old warhorse. The fact he carried only a 1911 pistol into the fight and still dominated makes him a badass to boot.[QUOTE="Verge_6"]Loved all of those except for Thin Red Line. I just didn't like the pacing. As a matter of fact, I'm considering ordering the DVD from Movies Unlimited, to add to my movie collection.
