...its not funny, or offensive. Its just plain dumb. What a mis-fire of a movie. I cant believe all the controversy surrounding this movie. It must be some kind of Hollywood joke, fake news reports from fake organisations faking that they were offended by this movie. Its retarded.Videodogg
I actually found it to be one of the funniest films in a while, and one of the best film parodies since Airplane and sone of the earlier Mel Brooks films. Like Ive said before, if you didnt find it funny then you just didnt get it.
I have a review in my blog

Please. Its a insult to mention Tropic Thunder in the same breath as Airplane or any Mel Brooks movie. You Sir were just hard up for a comedy.

I understood it. I just didn't find it to be that funny. There were a few moments I enjoyed.

not really, I mean would you watch Airplane and not call half its jokes dumb? I mean if you didnt then you got some screws loose, well its the same with Tropic Thunder, of course some of the jokes are weird and dumb, thats what its like in a parody, but the rest were actually smart and hilarious, the film was a perfect parody of war films and hollywood, plus its was a good action movie. You "Sir" have a bad sense of humor.
I thought it was disappointing but I did find it funny at times. Don't get me started on Pineapple Express..sammyjenkis898
What was so bad about Pineapple Express?

I think it's one of the funniest movies of the decade.I thought it was pretty funny. Not amazing but still good. Are you saying seeing
Robert Downey Jr. and Tobey Megiure as gay priest was not funny? I laughed so hard when I saw that.
I admit it gets little much but it was still pretty funny.

I know plenty of people that don't smoke and they thought it was hilarious. I don't smoke and I thought it was incredibly boring.

If you have to smoke to make a movie funny...it must be pretty terrible.

I don't smoke.I agree. The movie was pretty dumb. Stiller should stick to acting, and he can't even do that very well either. :(Maniacc1
lol, yeah lets complain about Stillers acting...who cares how good he acts, who cares if he will never win an Academy Award, he is a comedian, if he makes you laugh, which he does most of the time, then it shouldnt matter if he aint De Niro.

I thought he did a good job on Zoolander.
The tariler looked hilarious. I'm still going to see it after I see Pineapple ExpressToriko42
Haha omg me too, stalker. Nah i've got a big night lined up. PE then TT.

Yeah I know there were some cases when Stiller was good, but in the other movies he acts the same way most of the time.

Yeah, I admit I've gotten some laughs with Stiller, but there are other comedians who can be serious and funny when they need to (example Jack Black). Stiller just seems to act the same goofy innocent way in every role he plays. I'm not saying he deserves an award or anything.
Tropic Thunder didn't look funny at all from the media hype clips and trailers. It seemed very odd to me that such big names were associated with a seemingly B-style movie. I blame this on the fact that, with each new generation, social skills and general awareness continue to drop. What's next? In thirty years we will be witnessing top film critics touting the classic and intellectual (yeah, right) merits of the masterpiece Scream.MilkMaster69
lol have you seen the film? If you havent dont even try passing judgement. It appears that some have taken this as a serious film, but they fail to realize that its a parody, I mean it mocks everything from Platoon to Apocalypse Now, and it rips Hollywood apart, its actaully not a dumb film, and you actually have to have seen many films and be up to date with the times to get half the jokes in the film, so it really was meant for the so called generation you speak of.

You were saying that he should stick to acting. Ben Stiller wrote, directed, produced, and stared in Zoolander. I wouldn't call him a bad director.
Smoking would not even make Tropic Thunder funny. Its that lame. Jack Black is crap, Matthew McConnohey is crap, What the heck is with Nick Nolte?, Robert Downey Jr was wasted, the movie producer/rapper wannabe was just sad. The whole hoopla over Simple Jack is way over blown. There was nothing remotely offensive in this movie, i never once laughed out loud in the whole movie.Videodogg
I thought Simple Jack was hilarious. Robert Downey Jr was funny as well. I thought Matthew McConaughey was surprisingly funny.

Hell yes it was. Me and my friends were cracking up during the whole thing, I even cried a couple times I couldn't stop laughing. I'm doing a review of it in my blog soon.

Jack Black was actually better then he has been in his recent films, mostly because of the R rating and the fact that he didnt hold back. It was great to see Nolte in this. Downey was amazing in this film, I mean the fact that you cant admit that fact is odd I think, I mean I can see someone hating the movie, but I cannot see them not loving him in this. The studio exc actually made my respect for that actor go up ten fold. And McConnohey has never been better.

I'm well aware that it is intended to be a parody of Rambo/Platoon style 80's flicks, but I still got the impression that it was a poorly made lame attempt at what they were trying to achieve, much like Charlie Sheen in the Hot Shots movies.

lol, no way its like that. Like I said in my review (in my blog lol 8P) its a very well done parody. I compare it to Blazing Saddles as to how it went about being a parody, its was the film is was making fun of, it mocked action war films, but in essence it was one, plus Hot Shots was like every other newer parody in which they just mix in very dumb jokes and gags and have very obvious jokes about other films, Thunder was more subtle in its mocking and a lot of the jokers were smart. Trust me, you have to see it to judge it, I found it to be great.

I gotta say, their hiring John Toll as cinematographer was a stroke of genius.Aw . . . I had hopes for that movie. Elraptor
well you still should seeing how everyone I know loved it and critics had high praise, a few people on gamespot calling it dumb should cause you to not think it will be great, I say go see...NOW!!

I gotta say, their hiring John Toll as cinematographer was a stroke of genius.yes, I really hold it up there with Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein as far as parodies go, both were the movie they mocked, had there own story lines, but within that story they mocked the films they were based on, and not but dumb jokes and gags, but also with smart jokes, and scenes that only someone who has seen those films would get.

Perhaps I will see it based on your comments, rather than going off of what I have read officially and the preview clips I have seen.
You better be right about this. There is no doubt that subtle humor is far more impacting that brash in-your-face humor.
