[QUOTE="SaintLeonidas"][QUOTE="MilkMaster69"][QUOTE="SaintLeonidas"][QUOTE="MilkMaster69"]Tropic Thunder didn't look funny at all from the media hype clips and trailers. It seemed very odd to me that such big names were associated with a seemingly B-style movie. I blame this on the fact that, with each new generation, social skills and general awareness continue to drop. What's next? In thirty years we will be witnessing top film critics touting the classic and intellectual (yeah, right) merits of the masterpiece Scream.MilkMaster69
lol have you seen the film? If you havent dont even try passing judgement. It appears that some have taken this as a serious film, but they fail to realize that its a parody, I mean it mocks everything from Platoon to Apocalypse Now, and it rips Hollywood apart, its actaully not a dumb film, and you actually have to have seen many films and be up to date with the times to get half the jokes in the film, so it really was meant for the so called generation you speak of.
I'm well aware that it is intended to be a parody of Rambo/Platoon style 80's flicks, but I still got the impression that it was a poorly made lame attempt at what they were trying to achieve, much like Charlie Sheen in the Hot Shots movies.
lol, no way its like that. Like I said in my review (in my blog lol 8P) its a very well done parody. I compare it to Blazing Saddles as to how it went about being a parody, its was the film is was making fun of, it mocked action war films, but in essence it was one, plus Hot Shots was like every other newer parody in which they just mix in very dumb jokes and gags and have very obvious jokes about other films, Thunder was more subtle in its mocking and a lot of the jokers were smart. Trust me, you have to see it to judge it, I found it to be great.
Perhaps I will see it based on your comments, rather than going off of what I have read officially and the preview clips I have seen.
You better be right about this. There is no doubt that subtle humor is far more impacting that brash in-your-face humor.
yeah, and as if I havent plugged this review enough http://www.gamespot.com/users/SaintLeonidas/show_blog_entry.php?topic_id=m-100-25503925&tag=all-about;blog1 this is what I thought of it, and why I really loved it, dont get me wrong, some of the jokes were gags and somewhat dumb, but you can point those out in every parody, including the cla ssics like Blazing Saddles.
I enjoyed it... I may not agree with some of the morality at times (as with most everything else in the entertainment industry :?) but I did laugh at a decent amount of the movie. I laughed more in the second half than the first for whatever reason though. I'd think any who thought Dodgeball was funny would think this would be.
Much better than crap movies like Epic Movie...
I wanted to see Tropic Thunder, but got dragged into Pineapple Express instead. Honestly, Pineapple Express was terrible.
