Which do you prefer me I say UFC Tell me what you think

Dana White said it best. Boxing does not promote it's sport well. You have 1 main even and the rest of the fights are usually of little or no value. A UFC card will have several good matches and usually has a co-main event.
You mean MMA or Boxing. I like both but I prefer MMA because I just prefer more diverse ways of fighting. I haven't really watched any boxing PPV in years, the last one was the Pacquaio fight over a friends house. While I watch every or most MMA PPV events online somewhere.
Not a big fan of either, but I can at least somewhat enjoy boxing. I'm not a fan of watching guys grappling each other on the ground.
I have more respect for boxers, because they have to be extremely skilled at what they do. UFC fighters, hell most of them have elementary boxing skills at best, and tend to just tackle each other half way through because they can't get anything done standing up. Overall I prefer UFC because it's more exciting, but still, it seems like those guys really kinda suck at boxing, but since they make up for it on the ground they're okay.mohfrontlineHave you even watched UFC? MMA is not just about grappling. There are a lot of grappling people, but I'd like you to tell Henderson that he can't get anything done standing up.

Henderson is good compared to the other guys in UFC. If you put him in the ring with Wladimir Klitshcko or Ruslan Chagaev, it would be very ugly.
What the hell is that supposed to mean? A lot of people call MMA, UFC...I don't just kind of annoying, a pet peeve if you will. How do you know the TC wasn't asking about the UFC specifically vs. boxing leagues? MMA tends to vary based upon organization :o[QUOTE="jfcundiff"][QUOTE="Jfisch93"]

MMA we train our whole entire body to the fullest. Each part of a person is a weapon. MMA users study boxing and other martial arts as well.MgamerBDAn elite boxer would beat an elite MMA fighter in an MMA match. Boxers are far more skilled and far better conditioned. An MMA fighter would never get close enough to the boxer to get him on the ground, and there's no way anyone is taking out Pacquiao or Klitschko on their feet. And this is coming from a very, very big fan of UFC and MMA in general.
Happens every time there's a big title fight in either sport. Why have there been 4 of these UFC VS BOXING threads over the last 24 hours?

We study boxing, we also use more body parts to our arsenal such as our legs, knees, and elbows. We are more flexible to fight in any situation. You try to clinch your going to the ground, one wrong move can mean a knee to face or a foot. Also we can clinch too and do more in it. Boxing is a good sport, but very limited.

Hate to say it, but I gotta agree. An MMA fighter would trump a boxer simply because of the grappling techniques employed. While boxers are quick on their feet and would most likely win the striking game, as soon as the fight shifts to wrestling or jiu jitsu, the boxer is in trouble because they don't train all of the muscles in their legs.

Boxing is an art. MMA is still a very young sport, and not ONE person fighting in UFC has been in the ring with a high caliber boxer in his prime. The MMA fighter obviously couldn't box with an elite boxer. That's a given. So, that means they'd either try to get them on the ground or kick them. If an MMA fighter tried to kick a boxer, they'd catch a punch the moment their foot left the ground. And any boxer with a good jab would be able to keep his distance from an MMA fighter. That means the only way the MMA fighter is going to get the boxer on the ground is by charging in, and that's when they're going to catch the right hook.

The fight would be over before it ever shifted to wrestling, jiu jitsu, or anything else. In order to have a good ground game one must first get their opponent on the ground. And there's no way you're getting close enough to Wlad Klitschko to get him on the ground. And it's pretty ridicullous to say that boxers don't train their leg muscles. They do. That's where punching power comes from. And that's a major difference between boxers and MMA fighters. Many MMA fighters punch from the arms, while boxers punch with their whole bodies.

Anyone who can take 500 hits in the face and still fight is no wimp by anyones standards.

I would like this Guy to say that to Manny, or Mayweather, or Foreman.
Hell, say it to Tyson he is washed-up.
Lets see where it gets you.

I must admit boxers are good at speed, timing, counters, and other things. But even though MMA is a young sport, it is looked as an art. A boxer can move quickly on their feet yes but also an MMA fighter. If an Ma spent as much time practicing boxing as a boxer does then he can't be called an MMA fighter can he?. MMA is about flexibility, then a boxer moxes in for the kill an MMA fighter can do so many more things in that second. An MMA fighter can duck and and takedown, move out of the way and throw any of the body parts he has to attack, or anything that any man fears he can submission him. Once the ground game was introduced into the world of fighting everything changed. MMa is always evolving and boxing has stayed by the same rules and principles.
I truly enjoy both. If im in the mood to watch some amazing stand-up striking skills that are unparalleled to any other type of fighter, I watch Boxing. If Im in the mood to see insane kicks and some good elbow strikes, followed with professional class wrestling / bjj...I watch MMA. Both have a different appeal to me. I watch highlight videos of greatMMA fighters, like George St. Pierre, and imalways impressed....but I watch highlights of greatBoxers, like Roy Jones Jr, and im utterly amazed. MMA fighters are good at everything...but Boxers arethe GREATEST at one thing...and one thing only.

Yes boxers faces arenn't as pretty, that is why i'd rather train in MMA :P .

I would like to speak to this a bit.
Boxing has not evolved in so many years, because simply it has been around for thousands of years, in fact Odysseus (Homer) was known as a world class boxer. Boxing as a discipline is much more than a test of brute strength, as I am sure you are aware, it is highly regarded as one of the more tactic intensive physical sports there is. Over time Boxing has had changes most of these have been subtle, involving the evolution of different fighting styles as well as offensive and defensive mechanics. Many people in MMA take boxing for granted as it is often viewed as a very one dimensional sport, and in some respects that is very much the case. However, Boxers, more than most, disciplines required a lot from its disciples. Its just as much a mental game as a physical one, and that evolution has taken place over the years.
Now to be fair, a lot of people do not respect MMA because of the, excuse me for this, sloppiness of the sport. Its seems to any that MMA is simply a rushdown sport, and more oten that not in boxing a rushdown will get you slaughtered. Now there are exceptions to that...Silva, is the one that stands out as he seems to be a patient fighter that baits a rushdown and punishes it. I believe that over the course of the next few decades MMA will settle into its own, and become a definitely respected sport as it becomes more a discipline and less of a sport. If that makes sense.

Your right like I said boxing is a great and tactical sport. Its takes timing, speed, power, and tactics to get it down packed. Boxers work hard to become stronger, always looking for better, easier ways to take down their opponents. Boxing is and shall be one of the most exciting and well known sports of man. I read up on boxing know the different types, moves and some of the most famous. I even want to study and take boxing. I also most admit...MMA is kinda sloppy. There are still alot of flaws in which it can improve. But it has come a long way. MMA also has history with the Greeks and was practiced in the past as well. I can see MMA becoming a main sport in the future. Just like you said Silva is one of the people that stands out... A person that stands out to me in MMA is Lyoto Machida. A man that uses timing and speed in the sport...he's so unorthodox its amazing. I'm not bashing boxing. I respect every martial art the same. I never was a fan of this sport is better then that sport anyway. Please Log In to post.
