I mean the word Emo is thrown around everywhere. It's like the word has a different meaning for everyone. One person might say "oh that guy wears tight pants and has long hair. He's Emo." And another person might say "That guy has black hair. He's automatically emo." And then another person might say "The way he talks, what he says, makes him emo." But is THIS Emo? Listen to what they're saying. Or actually you can just read right off of the thing :P It's kinda disturbing and twisted... In your opinion, is that emo or not?

So emo. Talking about how they think the relationship is busted, and it's not working out. And sort-of screaming...

that's what i figured. being Emo - to me - is just being unduly emotional about something.

I haven't listened to them since I grew out of them in like 2004 so I'm only basing this off their first EP and album. I think of them as basically Post-Hardcore with strong pop infuences. There are still good Post-Hardcore bands out there like Thursday but definitely a farcry from the 80s and 90s. The genre's changed a lot.

most people don't understand me this thread makes it clear

I've always thought funny how people call things EMO, and specificly to make a negative point, even at people who would never associate with this idea or call themselves EMO.

Your definition of "emo" applies to Metallica and System. Or are you implying Hetfield and Tankian's lyrics aren't deep, emotional, or written with intense care and thought about real human issues and conflicts?

Well, there's a difference between emo lyrics and being emo when writing lyrics. But yeah, emo is not just about the lyrics. And yeah, some of them are a bit emotional, but not to the same extent as others.

Obviously it's taken a whole other meaning the past couple years but calling a band's lyrics emo because any sort of passion was put into it is assinine. I think the word you're looking for is pretentious. Or maybe just... deep?

LOL. That sounds like some emo kid's poem just put to music. So I'd say, yes. But in the same way, I don't consider the song "Little piece of heaven" by A7X emo, and it basically talks about the same thing, killing somebody and keeping their body.

Girls are way more emo than most guys. Gays as well. Do you need a reality check?
