[QUOTE="Film-Guy"]This thread needs more discussions about Food from the U.K. Jaffa Cakes FTW:DLJS9502_basic
I can appreciate the scenery that I've seen pictures of in various places, I can appreciate some of the alcoholic beverages I've drank, I definitely appreciate much of the music....but for the love of all that is good...not the food.:o

Pub food is awesome and Cadbury chocolate is made of greatness.

American English is actually replacing our own though. In fact, many of us see an American accent as the norm because of the sheer amount of exposure we have to it.

Wait, what? British English is as strong as it ever has been here in Manchester.

Props to the greatest country withing the union... Northern Ireland! Woo! :P

And to clear up some rumours around here:

- If you call a guy from Northern Ireland British, he WILL NOT kill you unless he's a nationalist. However the unionists over here are very proud to part of the UK. I mean they have been fighting for the past 40 years to stay in. :|

This may sound ignorant. But I always that they were the same country called by different names. Like the U.S., United States, America, The States, etc.

You thought England was the same thing as the U.K ?

There's not as much shame in that as losing to the Saffers.

And hey it must suck to have your criminals frequently beat you at games you invented :P

Just so we're clear to outsiders - this is not flaming. This is how our countries exchange pleasantries.

Speaking of rugby, I've heard many stories online of Welsh rugby fans travelling to an Australia match. The conversations go a bit like:

"So why are you here then, mate?"
"To watch the rugby innit mun. Wales vs Australia comon!"
"Wales eh? Where in England is that?"

You bastards. -_- (Joke, for mods to know... As Crane said, this is how we exchange pleasantries... ^_^).

Fine, maybe not the 'norm', but many people don't find the American accent to be foreign to them. I still stand by the fact that we're adopting aspects of their language.

whoever said england cant beat austrailia at anything. We beat you at rugby this year and 4 years ago. 20-17 sound familiar

anyway, UK ftw, we might have our issues, but not all of us have such posh accents (someone once heard me online in game and said i sounded Quintessentially British (l loled)), but we have epic music, very very nice countryside, nice weather (rarely extreme) decent food, and we once had a huge empire (that leaded to Aus, US, Canada, NZ)

oh, and Top Gear

Good ol' Blighty. We gave most of the best music ever to the world in one way or another. And our reputation for tolerating other cultures is known far and wide.

PS. It's pronounced "al-oo-min-ee-um", colour has a "U" in it, they're called "trousers", and chips > fries.
