If the measure of greatness is simply an imperialist means, then, by all means, the US is the greatest state in the world. If the measure is of development in one's own country, then it is certainlly France. As far foriegn policy goes, Cuba is certainly the greatest state in the world.

If by greatest you mean the most powerful economically, militarily and influentially, then I would say that it is. Does it mean that it is the best place to live and has the highest standard of living? No, America has plenty of demons. I love living here in the states but many other countries are better at many different things than the United States.

Certainly not, Cuba puts forth almost as much aid as the US does and by far puts the greatest percent of it's GDP towards aid.

Here's a quick list: Mexican -American War, stole about 200 miles beyond what was then Texas Hawaii 1895 -Coup De tete WWI -very silly war we entered despite having no moral interest in CIA planned to invade Italy after WWII if the communist party won the elections Bay of Pigs Vietnam -Support military ditatorship over 1/2 the country, then invade Chile -Coup De tete, replaced elected communist government with a fascist dictatorship; did the same to much of South America Angola -Direct invasion after the election of a communist government NAFTA -Economic imperialism, parts of Mexico still refuse to recognize the Mexican government as it's Iraq

The Human Development Index (HDI) is a comparative measure of life expectancy, literacy, education, and standard of living for countries worldwide.

According to the 2006 HDI report Norway has the highest standard of living

  1. Norway
  2. Iceland
  3. Australia
  4. Ireland
  5. Sweden
  6. Canada
  7. Japan
  8. United States
  9. Switzerland
  10. Netherland

The Whole List

SkinBlues

So? I admit the US isn't the best, but we really can't say that any country is the greatest. They all have flaws that make them worse that some other country.

Yeah if you mean cuba giving War aid, ceartainly not humanitarian aid, and the US gives the most aid of any country by far we give billions of dollars in aid to countries every year. And much of those statements you made are not facts, how is NAFTA economic imperialism, half the things you said never happened.

Yeah if you mean cuba giving War aid, ceartainly not humanitarian aid, and the US gives the most aid of any country by far we hive billions of dollars in aid to countries every year.

Please do not talk about things that you have no clue about.. You do know Cuba offered immense amounts of humanitarian aid to New Orleans after Katrina.. But the geniouses in our government turned it down.

United States by far does not have the best stats.. We have alot countries a head of us in literacy, least amount of baby fatality rate, as wella s other stats.

Also United States is by far not the best when it comes to Foriegn Aid.. They infact give one of the smallest %'s of money compared to other nations. Its easy to claim we are the best when we have $100 and give out $20, while every one out there is $50 or less and gives $18. Alot of our foriegn aid goes to countries of political importance rather then absolute need. Not to mention our foriegn aid system is pretty broken where most times alot of the money is simply lost and doesn't do much. Not saying they are the bad or the worse, but they CERTAINLY are not the best.

Why should we accept help from Cuba when they are run by a dictator, their people are not free, and Cuba has numerous Human Rights violations.

and our literacy rate straight from the government website

Literacy: definition: age 15 and over can read and write
total population: 99%
male: 99%
female: 99% (2003 est.)

We are tied first along with 15 other countries.

I like it here in Canada, but I can't sign up for a lot of online contests and money making journalistic websites :(

Plus, everything here is more expensive than it is in America (oil is 1.15dollars for a LITRE here in BC)

Firstly that goes against your entire point and you are changing the subject and poisoning the well.. Who cares if its ran by the dictator my point was you do not know what your talking about and said something completely false. Lets not forget we still support numerous dictators, such as Saudi Arabia which we are NOW ARMING.

Secondly look at comparison charts in stats such as literacy rates, you will see that alot of countries in Europe for instance are ahead of us. The US is by no means bad but it certainly is not the best.
