What is your University ranking? Also, Ranking by the subject you are taking. IE, if you are in Engineering then you can find Engineering rankings at

http://www.topuniversities.com/worlduniversityrankings/results/2008/subject_rankings/technology/

Really interested to see the position gamespotters hold in the world in academia ;)

P.S. Please state the name of the university lol.

If I do well in my exams (as in not screw up), number 4. If I do screw up, number 6. And if I'm extremely lucky number 1 :P

EDIT: Forgot to add the rankings for natural sciences. There it would most probably be number 5 >_>

It depends where you look. On US Today Berkeley is ranked like #21 or so, and then I've seen it ranked #5 on world rankings. With that said, I checked the first site on your list, but I don't buy it. They overall ranked UCLA ahead of Berkeley and they overall ranked Stanford as #17 which is even more ludicrous when instead it should be in the top 5. I'm in "biomedicine" so I guess #4 for my major for what it's worth according to this site.

I doubt that a Greek university will be even among the 100 top. Not a chance.

I have no idea how to operate the ranking search thing but I do know that the uni I went to is one of the top 3 ( if not the top ) in my teeny tiny tropical country. Which means that even in the international ranking listings of 1000+, it won't show up.:P

#8-University of Chicago.

That said, I'm not taking these rankings seriously, given that, among other things, they list Cornell above Stanford.

According to USNews's yearly ranking, Rice University is consistently either 16th or 17th, and is often tied with Brown University.

Harvard at number 1? Seriously? There are so many better, non-overrated schools. . .

Anyway, my university isn't even on the website, but it's a private university anyway.

244, it looks like, down a fair bit from last year. I'd check where it's rated for Economics (I'd guess higher) but that site is terribly designed.

I'm going to have to agree-Ivies, in general, are significantly overrated, especially Yale, Harvard, and Princeton... There are more than a few schools with comparable humanities and social sciences programs but with far superior engineering and natural science programs. Thus, they offer far more robust and diverse curricula.

I find its not necessarily the curriculum but the admittance standards that matter the most. Programs are ultimately graded on the individuals who graduate.

I don't know. I'm either going to North Dakota State University or Drexel University in Philadelphia. I'm going to major in computer science. I don't really care how highly ranked they are because they both fit my needs. :)

Caltech, MIT, Stanford, and a few others have more selective admissions than any of the Ivies. Indeed, Caltech is the most selective university in the world, IIRC.
