There is no way to realistically answer this question. It all boils down to preference.

I think they were equal in the 60s (UK maybe with a slight edge) but from the 70's to today, USA wins out, IMO.

In that case, I still can't really say. It's pretty much a draw for me.

UK has a lot of very good EDM artists, but so does Canada. UK has Ellie Goulding, Canada has Lights. America has a lot of good metalcore bands and Canada has a lot of post hardcore bands.

It's all good, really.

I never really cared for britpop, though, so that gives UK a slight disadvantage, since a decent number of their critically acclaimed bands fall under that style.

More music I listen to comes from the US, I guess.

But really, music is more separated by individual scenes rather than nationality.

Most of what I listen to is Scandinavian, Japanese, and American, just by guessing.

I think that just means that in order to chart nationally, one in a smaller nation has to appeal to a less diverse grouping and as a result, music doesn't have to be as bland and acceptable to appeal to the majority of the British.

I'm talking about international charting not national. National charting is pretty irrelevant outside the US due to the market size.

Obscure.
The ones I recognise are pretty big front-runners in trip hop, d&b and various genres of electronica, and I don't really have much interest or experience in any of the above genres.

Yeah if you live in like Ireland or something. It must be sad living in a land without punk and rock.
