A US warplane crashed due to mechanical problems. Both Crew members ejected safely, one was quickly rescued by helicopter pick up, the other is safe in rebel territory.

Well, that's good to hear. And its even better that Gaddafi's forces didn't get hold of them.

EDIT: Just fixed some spelling mistakes.

Yep, Ghadafi is a suborn s.o.b. that needs to go. If he really thinks he can stand up against the U.N. he is a complete fool.

I think it's a joke about the fact than an American-made vehicle has mechanical troubles. This is funnier, however:

I thought Obama said, "No U.S. troops on the ground".....?

Yeah, I'm not buying that one.
They probably got hit by some anti-air equipment.

Good thing they made it though.

Anti air equipment near Benghazi? Clearly you haven't been paying attention to the news.

Apperantly another american jet strafed the area injuring 5 (non fatal), it was an accident as they didn't know if it was Rebel or Ghaddafi territory. (saw it on CNN)

tbh dude they still have some working AA Systems French British and American airstrikes have weakened their AA capability but not totally scraped it its still very possible an allied plane could get shot down especially aircraft like the F-15 and the Tornado which nearing the end of there service lives.

The thing is, Benghazi has been in rebel hands since the very start of the uprising, and any loyalist military presence around it has either fled or been obliterated. This is not to say that there aren't any AA sights left in Libya(hell, just watch footage of Tripoli tonight and you'll see red tracers shooting up into the sky). But anywhere near Benghazi, where the F-15 went down? No. As the city is in rebel hands, that rules out any stationary sites. So the only AA that could be in the region would have to be vehicle-based around the city, and the airstrikes drove out or destroyed anything of that nature.

Good to hear, casualties this early for the coalition would be problematic.

The plane went down in one piece something that doesn't usually happen when a plane gets downed by AA. Not to mention the fact that their were tons of rebels who saw it happen and their description of the event seems to fall in line with the official statement.
