Stop putting words in my mouth. I never said anything about the FDA behing inherently anything. I just took issue with your claim that a cure (not alternative treatment, not experimental stuff, cure) for cancer exists.

PrimordialMeme

You said we should be dependent on "peer reviewed" data. Which I am telling you is industry based, with the FDA at the helm. Can you deny the impact industry has on peer reviewed science?

Science that isn't peer reviewed is worthless. There may be some truth to what you're saying, about corporate interests, but the fact remains science NEEDS to be peer reviewed. Non-peer reviewed science can say anything. That's why peer review exists.

We aren't disputing the scientific method of peer review. The dispute here is your credulous acceptance of industry based review as the gatekeeper of what is acceptable.

Again, your words in my mouth. I said nothing about accepting industry based review. The review doesn't need to be industry based. Just unbiased, and reviewed by credible scientists. It appears this argument is a stalemate. You have no legitimate proof, and I won't believe your claim without it. Surely you can see my dilemma.

So you cant collect social insurance?

1. They allow buzzed driving (something like .8 alcohol level)

2. Obesity still isnt being taken care of (no cafeteria changes in schools)

3. Only country in the west without universal health care (those with health insurance will still get denied)

4. For some reason of all the citizens in the world no one rebels like US Citizens (gun crime is crazy down thur)

5. People are very litigious, illegal to drink before 21 (forbidden fruit, minors will want to drink if theyre not allowed, also minors can get drivers licenses) so the likelyhood of a teenager going to jail and forever being held down as an ex con will be corrupt and prone to a life of crime.

6. LAPD/NYPD the most notorious in the west for corruption.

7. Wal mart sells bullets (and guns?)

Anyone else care to add anything?

GrandpaDeath

1. Uhhh, no...
2. Yes it is, in fact the exact oposite of what you said has been happening at my school for 3 years.
3. Agreed, it ****ing sucks.
4. Hmm, I've never seen anyone shoot someone else (or hear it, or even see someone have a gun that wasn't at their house in a locker).
5. Uhh, not exactly, but I half agree.
6. That's probably only because the U.S. gets all the attention. Any organization with power will have some kind of correction in some areas.
7. Who likes Wal-Mart anyway?

I'd like to add that the rest of the world is in much worse shape, you should stop focusing on the problems of a country who's getting by ok, and instead focus on countries that actually need help.

Nobody drank before they decided on a legal drinking age. This is totally true.

Well Hell, the entire time I was under 21 I was like "HEY I SHOULD DRINK SOME BOOZE THAT'LL TOTALLY SHOW THOSE SQUARES IN THE GOVERNMENT" and now that I am 21 I don't really feel like drinking.

Again, learn what this discussion is about. Its about how science is created.

There is no real incentive to review natural substances, in fact there is a real disincentive to avoid them. There is little money in developing cheap methods of curing or mending disease. You cant profit from its discovery, your chemical patents are where the money is at. Science is deeply tied to the market, please understand this. That is your failure here. Healthcare is based on modern science that is fueled by vested industries that cannot gain from natural products. The health care industry is HUGE business, cheap effective solutions aren't what they want.

so what are we supposed to do about it? any motions through the normal channels get shot down because those already in power will band together and keep the money flowing. and its not like we can overthrow the government anymore, so seriously, what can we do?

I have a great idea. Everyone who does not like the USA and lives there can just move out. I will be staying because i know that once all of the socialists leave, it will be a much better place.

My thesis is there for you sir. Natural products are not going to be pursued. The evidence is vast, but scattered obviously. Im not going to be your research slave. There are thousands of cancer fighting natural botanicals. Use Google. A few very important ones for you: capsaicin, reishi mushrooms, cannabinoids.

That's why we have one of the highest life-expectencies and standards of living in the world, right? Seriously. If the government wanted us dead, we'd be dead. That's all there is to it. All of your reasons are so ridiculous ithat I'm not even going to bother with them.SmashBrosLegend

I understand what you're saying completely. You're saying there's no money in peer reviewing alternative medicine, so it doesn't get done. Fair enough. My question is why should anyone believe what you say, when your claim by your own admission has no proof? You don't have legitimate proof. You can talk all day about why you don't have it, but the fact remains you don't have it. I'm not talking about the politics behind it. You obviously don't understand the OP's point then.

The government wants you alive just as long as you are productive. They want you paying taxes, they don want you taking a share in social security. You aren't a government asset when you aren't working and taking money from the tax pool. There is a very real reason why government wants you dead by the time you reach retirement. They don't want to extend your lifespan. Thats not in their interest.

No. My thesis was that research ISNT being done on natural products so your very request isn't something that can be easily fulfilled. Research the points I just gave you. I can find some, Ive read them, but I'd rather have you find them because you'll cry about the links I could find since they aren't fda, or .edu or something. Once again Im not your personal research monkey. Find it on your own or refute my thesis. Until you can refute my thesis, I see no reason to give you links on something that isn't being pursued by research.

I'd rather discuss it than act like running from the problem is the solution. If you think leaving america is a solution to america's problems then you are the problem. Thats such a stupid meme you have adopted, its really pathetic.

Lol I love people like you who bash things on the internet and pretend to be "knowledgable", andthen go back to your normal life, which happens to be selling stuff at Walmart.

No, you wouldn't even address my thesis. I told you to do your own research because I don't lie. Because I am very serious about this and I did your research for you. Now that you have the research and you still cannot refute my basic argument you have been clowned. CYA

Glanced at a few of your links....some of them are not absolute statements. And some of them are by the very institiutes you were running down in your initial "thesis'.

[QUOTE="PrimordialMeme"]Prepare to get owned. you'll get fed some links...:DPrimordialMeme

That would not of course be ownage since the only argument I've had with you was over you lack of providing links. It would merely be you finally doing what you should have done a few pages back with the other guy.;)

No, you wouldn't even address my thesis. I told you to do your own research because I don't lie. Because I am very serious about this and I did your research for you. Now that you have the research and you still cannot refute my basic argument you have been clowned. CYA

You might want to read your links. Words like unproven...and may are not firm affirmations. CYA.

What is your point? The research exists but the natural cures aren't being pursued. You've been clowned. Keep trying though!

Hey there cry baby. The fact that natural substances aren't being pursued is a big clue to its profitability. They cant profit from them but you wont admit that and you know it.

Until you refute each link I gave you, you haven't refuted my sources. I've done my work to provide many links, so refute each one then get back to me.8)

Im waiting for you to refute each one. Not for you to take whiny exception with some of them.

Im waiting for your detailed critique of each one. Until then you aren't credible.

You provided one link per item. The other links are rehashes of the same report. They use words like "may"...and "unproven". Sorry...but that is far from a fact. Keep trying though....

Is this the cure you were referring to? If so, I'm unimpressed. I've been aware of the cannabis and capsaicin ideas for some time, and they may work for some people, but they do absolutely NOTHING for others.

Not even close, they are independent reports which you cant refute. Until you refute them all you haven't shown me anything.

Keep trying to support your argument, Im not sure what that is. Since you have made none so far LMFAO.

You didn't read your links...they are not independent. They are the same report on different sites. They don't actually provide any unindelible proof either. The links fail.

Edit: I wasn't arguing....I asked for your proof since you said you had some. You still have provided none.

The fact that we aren't pursuing those anti cancer substances actively should tell you something about its monetary value. There is no profit in them, yet the scarce science supports it. We wont get the mass databanks of science because there is no money in it.

You fail, they are independent and you've yet to refute them. Im waiting but since you have nothing I win.

You win nothing. I asked for links. You provided one report on several sites for each product. These reports were sprinkled with weak conclusions. Or do you think someone stating it "may" work...has not be proven...to be fact?

I really recommend you read the links through before making statements....
