Who else here is sick and tired of seeing daily topics negatively harrassing or degrading religions, mainly christianity? I for one don't want to see or read you consistently bashing someone else's beliefs, or potentially my own, because you feel that they are wrong. Why is there a need to offend billions of people just to make a harsh statement against a religion? Keep it to yourself. You make it seem as though all religions are evil conspiring organizations whom merely wish to send the earth and all its people to eternal damnation and that we are the only sinners amongst the human population. This is not the case i can assure you. There are tons of ways in which religions benefit the world and you are blind and ignorant if you cannot see that. You may call a christian a "hypocrite" and other names, but just remember that not a single living person is perfect, including yourself. So, im not declaring that one person is right and the other is wrong, but there is no need for these topics about religion because they are inevitably going to turn into one big argument and in the end there is no point to them and you simply are just offending people. Here is to banning all religion topics.

As much as I detest them I think they are a necessary evil - they generate more discussion than any other thread. And if you took them awy, there'd be only one thread left called "Bring Back The Religious Debates".

You're basically asking for threads to be removed because you don't like to argue about the subject and because people disagree with you...which is where the whole stereotypical blind ignorant religious person stereotype comes into play...

exactly. i want to know why someone would try to pull people away from a religion or degrade them for believing it. if religous people were attacking we would say you are alled bound for hell because you dont believe but i dont see too many of those threads.
The vast majority of religion-based threads generate legitimate discussion. They do attract the usual suspects who tend to test precisely where the line is between allowable response and trolling, but if they cross the line they can be and have been moderated on a case-by-case basis. If we were to ban those threads just on account of the fact that someone might post who isn't terribly tolerant of others' opinions or beliefs, we might as well ban everything other than "how was your day today" or "here is an interesting news article" topics.
I'm sorry, but it'd be a bigger offense to ban a topic subject because it's something you don't agree with.
At one point or another in your life, you're gonna be offended by something. Expect it. Accept it. The sooner you realize that, the better off you're gonna be.

let me tell you what is censorship, censorship is me not being able to call people retarped or gai because ill get band for deragatory use and or offensive material. the majority of comments coming out of these threads is very offensive and should be banned since im getting band for meager words that are used in every day language

Trust me, if somebody was truly following the teachings of their religion (atleast Christianity that i know of) then they shouldn't be saying ur going to hell becuz of ur beliefs; I think that legitamate discussions and presenting opposing views in a rational and nonattacking matter is good becuz then we can learn more about each other's beliefs and won't feel angry when speaking to each other.

That one you're going to have to take up with the people at the top, becacuse the punishment for those two words is pretty much a direct order from the admins. Unless we get a similar order to suspend people who are posting in religion topics, the two situations aren't exactly comparable.
I've read the comments from a lot of the religion threads (and have participated in a number of them too), and I have to wonder what your criteria for "very offensive" is if you found the majority of them to be that way. :?

I do agree that saying there should be no censorship in here is a lost cause already because of the mods' strictness here, but if you're serious about calling people retarded and homosexual, and then you say that other comments are offensive, where the hell do you stand on your opinion, dude? I think something needs to be done to limit the amount of them. Sure, I avoid them, but it's very difficult to navigate OT when most of the threads are some sort of religious/political debates. Maybe we could have a new "Debate" forum?

The idea has been brought up before. It's a good idea in theory, but I think a board dedicated solely to religion wouldn't meld well in a gaming site.
Since religion is such a sensitive topic, then the people making these threads and the people posting in them should do it with seriousness and with reverence. This goes both ways on the opposing views. I think this will take out all the nonsense and flame wars you see in the religious threads.

I move to make a forum for threads complaining about religion threads. That way, all the people complaining about religion threads will have a place to go without cluttering up the board.

The only problem I have with religion-based topics is all the ignorance and evangelism. Evangelism is not needed here, regardless of how they use scripture to justify it.
