I have to go with love also. Cheap supplies, cheap books. GameStop has me spoiled on video game prices, though. Those things are about all I go to Walmart for at this point, but I'm sure I'll be there more often when I move out permanently.muthsera666
yeah i know what you mean im getting close to moving out and will probably go there oftne still though i hatethe fact that they put other stores out of buisness
I love Wal Mart.. prices are great and they have everything I need. If any of these mom&pop stores want my money, they better offer me something that WalMart can't. That's how the economy works.DeeJayInphinity
No Wal Mart is an monolpoy, which is a type of market failure. They may have cheap prices now but if they grow too much they can pretty much do whatever they want to do like raise the prices... not good at all.

You're saying walmart is going to be the only store in the US market?
if you like to live dangerously go to a tariler park with a megaphone and start shouting about the evils of walmart and why they suckSerraph105
Actually, this is a good point as to why Walmart is good. For those living at poverty level, or even some in the middle class, Walmart offers decent products at affordable prices. The reason other businesses are closing is that there prices aren't as good. Speaking from experience, my family is able to enjoy more things than we could previously because we don't have to pay as much for the basics nor some of the luxuries.
Hate them...
They are exactly what is ruining the world. A greedy corporation that has no moral compass and exploits all of its workers so the people at the top can rake in millions without lifting a finger.
That's just wrong.

once again i agree mostly because im torn on this situation i feel like the best idea for people to do is shop there but dont work there but that doesnt really work either

They lifted their fingers back when WalMart wasn't big. You think the founder just magically stumbled on a huge global empire? No, he took risks just like all business men out there, but his paid off very well and he was able to go global.

Do you not realize that these mom and pop stores are run by your neighbors? You're potentially friends with the child of the owner of a mom and pop store. What would happen if Wal-Mart pushed them out of business and your friend had to move because his parents had to find more work?
They do that all over the world.
And if I'm not mistaken you have a font in your sig that looks like it's trying to copy The Mars Volta's font...

What, I'm gonna hate WalMart because they're doing what every other business is trying to do? Hah. No, dude, I'm not illogical like that. Every company out there is trying to push everyone else out. The big difference here is that it's slightly more personal with WalMart.
Everyone's trying to go after the same thing and not everyone can have an equal share in it. If my buddy or neighbor wants to make it as shop owners, they have to deal with the competition If they can't, that's too bad, they knew there was a chance of failing when they signed up for it.

So you'd rather watch your community decay into poverty as the money is funneled to those highest up in the company because you save 37 cents by going to Wal-Mart?
You fail to recognize that money that would go to your neighbors if you supported their business is money that you get to "spend twice" because they're going to reinvest into the community with that money as well. When you buy something from Wal-Mart that money is just adding onto the 0s of some Bush-loving souless **** bank account.
Other businesses try to put each other out of business, that's correct. The difference here is a consolidation of wealth that leaves any up-and-coming business at a huge disadvantage. When local businesses elminate one another, the money is still staying in the community. When Wal-Mart knocks somebody out, the money is again going to a bank account of someone who already has billions.
I don't think I'd want to work there. Then again, I don't think I'd want to work at any retail outlet; I've had enough bad experiences with that...
I think Wal-Mart is overrated in terms of "deals" at any rate. Most of the low cost stuff they have is partially because the products are crap, although there are occasional exceptions.

You act as if opening a business is the only way one can obtain money...:| When Bill Gates made 50 billion dollars did he send half of America into poverty? No.
And what of the people that work at Walmart? Are they not paid?

Listen man, I live by a WalMart, there is no decay there. In fact, Burbank has what, a billion stores? You can't be serious when you tell me that a WalMart is going to "decay" an entire community.
I know someone that owns a m&p shop, they don't give anything back to the community. In fact, this halloween, they gave away old worn out candy. All of the money they earn they put right back into the shop. All of the other shops by my house are the same thing, except I don't know the owners.
By the way, ever thought about Gamespot? All you're doing right now is adding 0s to someone else's bank account. Same thing goes for your Sony TV and your Dell, and your iPod and your electronic appliances.. Hell, the same goes for the m&p stores. You're just adding 0s to their bank accounts.
You want a business that you can't get into? Try the microprocessor business.. or the video card industry. There are industries out there that are worse when it comes to a wealth gap.
The money doesn't go back into the community, it goes to a different owner. WalMart has donated tons of money anyway, I don't think I could say the same about any of these small shops. Since when does WalMart not pay taxes, btw? That money either goes federal or to the state, which translates into money for my community.
All of the industries have big players and all of the industries have friends, parents, neigherbors and "potential" friends that have failed. WalMart isn't the only corporation putting people out of work.

Doesn't matter, the government has a death tax and you can only give away $10,000 to relatives and such without the government reaching into your pocket. In the end, the government will have their money.

Yeah, Walmart wants to enslave the world. Whatever, you're out of arguments so all you have left are "walmart is eveil tyrants" crap.
Now that I've looked at your sig, it's clear to me why you have this silly grudge. You're in the same boat as Alex Jones and all of those other fear mongers.

they dont have to the only store, they just need a majority pf the business.

I hate Walmart. Every one I've been to is so dirty and dusty that it irritates my eyes. I also don't like them for how they force their own lower prices on items. I prefer Target a lot more.
If anyone doesn't understand why so many people don't like Walmart, read this article(or at least skim it).
