should we remember Napoleon as a ruthless tyrant; who started wars and killed lots of people, or as the man who saved France and shaped the history of modern Europe? He tried to invade lots of countries, the british were so scared of him, they were willing to finance any country who was willing to fight against him. So should we remember him for his military genius or for his aggression?

As a french man, I remember him for his aggression and the countless people he killed. It doesn't make him any better or worse than any other ruler of the time, but to be honest I don't see why anyone should rever him or any other leader for their military conquests. He did, however, do many great things such create the lycée.

for a megalomaniac, I think his heart was in the right place.

Sure, he wanted power and all that, but he also wanted order and a lot of good came out of his conquests and general governing.

He shouldnt be revered, or even liked...but he shouldnt be lumped into the category of "tyrant" or "dictator"

Napoleon is the man. He wrote the book for warfare during his time and had Europe in the palm of his hand(until Russia). I look back on him as good guy to answer your question.

He was short.

That's what I remember him as...a very short person.

He was a man with huge ambitions. You can't rule a man as a single thing. You should look a man's backgrounds, actions, motives and effects before doing an assertion like that.

Well, I think in his earlier years he was good. He fought for liberty and against the old feudalistic Europe. He was always seeking the peaceful ways with everyone, but the good old England never wanted to get on with France, of course they never did. he attacked hsi enemies before they could even prepare. He was the man of the humanism. Europe wasn't ready for his reforms so they made coalitions against him. Of course, in his late years, when he was the emperor he became hungry for power... but he was truly pure at heart, and not bad at all.

Oh and, yes, he was short, 165 cms i think, but there is a statue of him in Paris, and if you stand before it you look up to him, if you stand above him you bow before him.

He wasn't bad. I am of French descent, and I feel like he did some good things; made France what it is, and subsequently, Europe, and the rest of the world.
