I just bought Jade Empire used from EB Games, and it has grubby fingerprints all over it. I'm going to try it out, and if it doesn't work, I'll take it back, but what is the best way to get rid of these? Would using water (with a soft cloth for glasses) damage the disk at all? Has anyone ever tried this?

Just use the soft cloth. Finger prints rub off easy.

If it's just fingerprints then fog it up with your breath and clean it with your shirt (as long as it's cotton) always worked for me...but never pour water directly onto a disc...huge no no.

Thanks, I'll give that one a try. My toothpaste even has extra scrubbing flakes in it, so those prints should be gone in no time.

There I fogged it up and wiped it with the soft cloth. Worked fine. But I'm wondering, why is everyone saying not to use water?

I'm saying it from personal experience...disk didn't like water at all.

You may think I'm kidding or trying to get you to mess up your disk some more, but I'm not.

My brother used something similar to Drain-O to clean one of his CDs on the computer, because it had a markermark on it, and I think it started working on the computer.

what he said... unless you can get 100% pure water then nooo water...

if you could remove all of the impurities from the water then it would work... but removing all the impurities would cost alot more than than simply buying the disc again...

It's true, toothpaste is a good disk cleaner.

Anyway, I've cleaned disks with water before, never damaged them...

Ya just toss it in the washing machine or take it in the shower with you, you can throw it in the dryer afterwards and it will be fine :)

My brother swears by water and a napkin or tissue. It seems to work for him all the time, too.

nah... ovens are good for "baking the dirt off" or if your lazy and want to clean your disk quicker just toss it into the micro-wave for a few minutes.

water wont hurt it but you should give it time to dry. ideally, you would use a soft clothe and a dab of rubbing alcohol. and remember one thing....ALWAYS scrub up and down. NEVER EVER go in a circle. that will **** up the disk.

microwaves work better...they melt the plastic and it fuses back so it gets rid of any problems you're having
