I love that album, Freedom or Fire is a really good song. Soul of a New Machine and Demanufacture are probably my favorites of theirs.A tribute band better than the original.[QUOTE="lo_Pine"][QUOTE="worlock77"]
Factually incorrect. Without Danzig they're a glorified tribute band at best.

Sorry, but no.
Danzig is a pretentious shthead. His only good song is Mother and Where Eagles Dare.[QUOTE="worlock77"][QUOTE="lo_Pine"] A tribute band better than the original.lo_Pine

Danzig is a pretentious shthead. His only good song is Mother and Where Eagles Dare.He might be a pretentious sh*thead, but that doesn't change the fact that the Misfits were a better band under him. The Misfits headed by Jerry Only (who's as much of a sh*thead as Danzig is) is a glorified tribute band heading a shallow merchandising scheme. The band was reformed to cash in on the name built up by Danzig (and helped by Metallica's covers) over the years and their music reflects that. No heart and no sincerity whatsoever.
(And LOL at 'Mother' being a good song.)

Danzig is still a commercial whore. You are fooled by his cynicism. Without his music where would his money come from?[QUOTE="worlock77"][QUOTE="lo_Pine"] Danzig is a pretentious shthead. His only good song is Mother and Where Eagles Dare.lo_Pine

Danzig is still a commercial whore. You are fooled by his cynicism. Without his music where would his money come from? What? Did I say anything about Glenn Danzig not being a commercial whore? Did I say anything about Danzig today at all? No, I'm speaking about the Misfits of today and comparing them to the Misfits of 30 years ago (when they were fronted by Danzig). What Glenn Danzig himself (who I'm not sure has done anything really worthwhile since, I dunno, 1986 maybe) is doing these today isn't relevant to what I'm speaking about.

You did say "band was reformed to cash in on the name built up by Danzig, over the years and their reflects that. No heart and no sincerity whatsoever." Although you never literally said that Danzig was a commercial whore. What you actually said implies you disagree with the commercial path the band took after Danzig. You said that after you expressed that you thought the post Danzig Misfits are "a glorified tribute band heading a shallow merchandising scheme." Again, you are opposing commercialism. Additionally, I also am comparing the Misfits of today to the Misfits of 30 years ago. I originally said that the Misfits without Danzig are better. I never claimed anything about what Danzig is doing today, only that he has always been a pretentious ass and only had two good songs.[QUOTE="worlock77"][QUOTE="lo_Pine"] Danzig is still a commercial whore. I don't oppose commercialism per se. God knows it's difficult enough for a musician to make a living off their music alone. If they want to market their name out to help pay the bills more power to them. What I oppose is crass marketing with no sincerity to the music itself. Which is what Jerry Only's Misfits engage in. The point of the band now is to sell Misfits branded figurines, shoelaces, light switch covers, etc and the music is peripheral to that.
And whether or not Glenn Danzig is a pretentious ass (he is) is quite beside the point and has no bearing on what I'm talking about.

The Misfits brand just happens to have easily identifiable symbols or style making them ideal for charactacures/figurines/light switch covers. It is, in fact, hard enough for musicians to make money solely off their music but the Misfits have found a way to make money off of more than their music alone. They should be praised for creating and promoting such a unique representation of a lifestyle.[QUOTE="worlock77"][QUOTE="lo_Pine"] You did say "band was reformed to cash in on the name built up by Danzig, over the years and their reflects that. And Christ, I can't recall the last time I came across someone wearing that "lifestyle" brand (which Jerry showed no interest in until he realized that it was lucrative, thanks to the efforts of Danzig and Metallica) who could actually identify a single Misfits song.
