Incorrect. In fact, I've taken a specific cIass on the evolution of music, which encompassed music styIes from around 1400 to present, and thus obviously had a fair share of cIassical music. And it's quite easy for me to dislike an entire form of music - it just doesn't appeal to me, whatsoever. Furthermore, opinion on whether or not I find something enjoyable to listen to has absolutely nothing to do with it's significance in the development of modern society. Those are two completely unrelated ideas...msudude211

Again, you're entitled to your opinion, but here are some opinions that are beyond the pale. Claiming to dislike the entire range of classical music created over a period of centuries, of which I doubt you've heard more than .02%, basically says to me that you are either incredibly obtuse or more likely just ignorant.

I cannot claim to dislike any musical form, although I do have my preferences. I just don't know enough about any particular musical form to make such a blanket statement.

Sorry, but that's not how it works. That's like me saying I dislike fascists, and you saying I'm being ignorant because there might be a fascist out there that I like. It's inherent that when one expresses their opinion on a subject, they're basing their opinion on all the contact that they've had with that particular subject. Just because I say I dislike cIassical music doesn't mean I'm never going to like it or won't find a cIassical song I do enjoy; on the contrary, it means that of what I have heard, none has appealed to me. And furthermore, opinions can be statements of generality - I could say that I like one cIassical song and still dislike the genre in general. That's the nature of an opinion.

Facists aren't in any way comparable to a form of art, they have black and white moral connotations.

And yes, when someone has an opinion on something they are basing it on their exposure to that thing. A reasonable person should realize that they probably can't justifiably make blanket statements about a broad subject that they have little or even just incomplete exposure to or understanding of.

Like I said in my edit, opinions (such as mine) can be statements of generality - I could like one cIassical song and still dislike the genre in general. That's the nature of an opinion. But whatever - it doesn't seem like you're going to budge on your staunch connotations associated with my opinions, and I'm quite hungry. :P

Stating that you generally dislike a form of music based on one song would clearly be an extreme display of ignorance, which is mostly what my point has been all along.

Joy Division - Unknown Pleasures

Orlando_Magic

heh. I'm actually listening to that right now as I'm browsing the forums :). I'm not the biggest or most knowledgeable Joy Division fan in the world but I do enjoy Closer and Unknown Pleasures.

You're now more awesome then before.

Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd.

Everyone kept talking about how awesome they were and I thought listening to the album would be awesome. Sadly, it made me fall asleep.

Thank god I'm not the only one that thinks this.

You took the concept to an extreme. It still holds true at lesser extremes.

I don't ever really anticipate albums, so they don't ever really disappoint me. Only time I've ever been anxiously awaiting the release of an album was The Incident by Porcupine Tree, and that really delivered, so, yeah, I can't say I've ever really been disappointed.

Hail To The Thief by Radiohead. Still a solid album, but by far their weakest.

If you are serious, I'd agree,

Yes, I'm being serious.

Money was the only decent song on there. The rest of it was pretty dull.

ya I thought the album was boring

Ozzy Osbournes Scream was the last one I can think of.

Apparently it was gonna be a return to form and gonna be a great album but it was rather average. At least it was more listenable than Black Rain..
