at 2am last night, i was coming back from the bathroom and i felt i was being watched. the lights were off, and i felt a presence at the end of my dark hallway. I take look down my hall for a few seconds, when suddenly i felt scared and compelled to go back to my room. so i hurried back to my room, and the second the door closes i hear movement and scratching noises from the other side of my door. as in footsteps. now, my parents were both asleep at this time, and my dogs are too small to make loud audible footsteps.so OT, what is your take on this?

If that had happend to me, the first thing I would've doen is turn on the lights... Maybe there was some person in your house, or some kind of animal.

Considering that the experience happened "last night", and that it's at least 10 minutes between this post and your first post, I think you'll be okay.

If someone broke into your home in order to murder you, you'd already be dead.

Houses make noises, Especially at night when the temperature is dropping and things like wood floor boards begin to contract. I hear noises all the time, if its something significant like someone could be breaking in i get out of bed and turn on the lights... its never anything.

Your imagination is running wild.

If you heard sounds, there probably was a person or thing back there. It could have been your dogs you never know. Also it might've been your imagination I have this s*** happen to me everytime I throw the trash out after midnight

You should have investigated the strange noise. Preferrably, murderers like to hide in the basement, so maybe check there first. However, you must not turn on a light.

Could have been a spider. Giant House Spiders, while harmless, can have up to a four inch leg span, and can run at over ten kilometers an hour. They're big enough that you can hear them walking on a hard floor.

I used to have rats and squirrels hanging around outside, and they'd get in through the roof and make their way into the walls. Sometimes I could actually hear some big epic battles going on. I'd hear stuff bumping and thrashing around in the walls, I'd hear screaming and squealing. And then suddenly everything would go quiet. Sometimes after such an event, the entire house would start to stink a few days later, as the fallen rodent soldiers began to decay.

In any case, I'm glad that no visitors ever heard that. Because it's sort of hard to explain that **** in a satisfactory manner. Like, I've got a sexy lady at my place and the home erupts into this loud explosion of noise. She gets concerned and asks, "what the hell is that?!" Meanwhile I comfort her by saying, "don't worry, that's just the rats having a big battle inside the walls."

I mean, you can pass that off as ghosts, or an intruder in your home. That's dangerous and scary. Basically the only way to minimize the threat is to just flat out say that it's just a bunch of rats fighting inside the walls. And somehow, that's also sort of the WORST thing you could possibly say.

seems like the only logical solution is to buy a bunch of those plastic cocktail swords and leave them around the place and try to start an arms race... let them kill themselves off.
