That depends on what you plan to do with your life.

Mark_the_Lie

What does that even mean? You can take basic courses, then transfer to a University when you get enough credits.. :?

What it means is, there's something wrong with it if you plan on simply going for 2 years, getting an associate's degree, and then acting like you actually accomplished something. That's what the vast majority of kids at community colleges will do. If you happen to be the exception and actually succeed in transferring and completing your bachelor's program at a 4 year college, then that's wonderful. In general though, and in my experience (which is extensive), the type of people who go to community college would never cut it at a decent university anyways. It's sort of a sink hole of mediocrity where people go just to "try."

So that means you can't do anything in life if you attend a community college? I promise you that I'm going to transfer out and do just fine. Not to mention, I will have already had two years of building credits and going to college absolutely free.

That's where you're dead wrong. A large amount of people have transferred to the University that I'm attending. The people that attend community college, and take basic courses, usually have a goal in mind - transferring to a 4-year school.

Hell, my dad did that. He took eight years of school and now has his PHD in Psychology.

That's a pretty narrow view to think everyone that attends a Community College can't cut it in a University. There are a ton of slackers at 4-year colleges - a lot that just attend because their parents could afford to waste the money.

EDIT: Also, plenty of people that graduate High School with good grades go to Community College because of the money. It's an easy way to save money - and some people don't have the money to attend a University for all 4 years.

Good for you. Unfortunately, the last thing that respected companies, law schools, graduate schools, and medical schools want to see is that you spent half of your undergraduate career at a community college. However, transferring is certainly better than staying in community college, as I already acknowledged. It's the clueless people who stay there (the vast majority) that are, in my opinion, making a huge mistake.

At my high school the guys that had only female friends caught the most heat.

TM_Darkside
I also have a fairly large group of guy friends, but the females I mostly hang out with don't like it when people try to give me heat. :P

I believe I twice qualified that by saying those people who wouldn't cut it are only a majority- not everyone.

Haha I was, but then I woke up and realised I was 6'4 with a Police boxing champ for a Dad. The first kid went through the window - I got left alone after that.D3nnyCrane

haha me too. Did you really send a guy through a window? Was it open, or did you send him through glass lol?

It took me until 7th grade (age 13) but I suddenly realized "Wait a second...Ive got like 30 pounds and2 inches on the second tallest person here, why am I taking this crap?" and finally reached out and got myself some justice.

Nobody made fun of my weight after that, at least not to my face. It felt good, I cannot lie, it felt really, really good. Best part was that I started the fight, and the other kid got suspended.

seriously.

they care about performance, not the school you went to. Ive taken classes at both JCs and 4-year schools, theyre pretty much equal as far as general education goes.

dont be pressured into a 4-year, society deems "if you can go, you must go" but if youre not ready or unsure, spend 2-3 years at a JC. You will literally save thousands of dollars and get an equally good education concerning GE's. Best of all, when you transfer to a 4-year, youre going to almost be taking nothing but major classes so its all stuff youre interested in!

Nobody looks down on JCs except one's parents, and thats just stupid and should be ignored.

I remember the first day of kindergarten nobody wanted to be my friend and I was just insanely shy (still am) though throughout elementary school i was ridiculed and made fun of but then came highschool and i was generally respected and liked by some and hated by others just like everybody else mostly. Now i spend my days sitting at home doing my school work here because I'm to lazy to get up in the morning and truthfully I just hate highschool drama. I guess if you suck at school and have not very many friends then there isn't really much hope for you until you graduate and become your own person which is what I'm trying to do but still failing bad at.....

I was the smallest guy in my grade so I got picked on ALL THE TIME!!!

I did fight back but I usually had the luck of hacing teachers step-in and stop the fight right as I started to retaliate.

Funny thing is despite all that, I was once challenged to a fight after school where the kid didn't show up, and another time this kid had said he was going to jump me after school and he didn't try ****.

IDK though, I still kinda wish I had been more agressive. I think it would have just taken one time of me blowing up on someone and beating the **** out of them for people to have respected me a bit.

Yeah. Mainly because of my parewnts success and the fact that I didn't act accordingly. So in middle school it was simply cases of jealousy sometimes and in high school it was that jocks being idiots to me cause I wasn't one of them.

I was a lot until about the 4th grade when I decided to start playing football and got a lot stronger. Then I was only picked on a little, until the 7th grade when I started doing some mixed martial arts. I lost it on a kid that was like 2 years held back in the 8th grade and was never picked on again.

Nah not really. The people in my elementary school were awesome. There were about 60 kids in my grade, and we all got along really well and were friends with each other. It was a good time. In junior high, I'm sure people made fun of me behind my back a bit. I hung out with the "goth" kids and we all hung around after school in the same spot and moped around. I know we were made fun of a bit by others, but we didn't care. Even though I was all angsty and dressed like a fool and listened to Slipknot, that was a good time too. In high school, everyone pretty much grew up. I had a good high school experience. I'm sure people called me a nerd because I was obviously very heavily involved in things like JCL (Classics/Latin/Greek Club), pep band, Socratic Club (informal debate/philosophy), etc. No one was really ever rude to my face though. I have my quirks, but people where I live are fairly accepting. I could've been made fun of for a number of things, but I wasn't.

Nope. I've always been bigger than others so it's been chilled. I always get listed in the "people I wouldn't want to fight". What no one knows though is that I am all talk and would probably get my ass whooped in a fight :D

I was laughed at, picked on by both teachers and students, and I didn't know English until grade 4. Because of that, I was considered "weird".

Then in gr 7-8, I nearly got killed just because I was stuck in a class with the wrong people.

In HS, this one guy destroyed my entire life until I broke his nose on my graduating year. Good thing he has literally no future now.

If the above doesn't count as being picked on, I don't know what is.

This one group of guys picked on me. So i cornered the ring-leader when he was alone, struck a perfect two finger blow that knocked him out, then i cut up his body into many pieces, but where he was still easily identafiable and undeniably a dead person, and put different pieces into the lockers of all his friends. but then i just got picked on in prison..:(

nah. i never get picked on. and when people mess with me, they are usually dumber, and i can use logic to make a point about how dumb they sound and it shuts them up. but usually i dont care what they say. they call me somethign, i say "ok" "sure" or dont respond. stupidity needs a food source, so starve it.

Secondary school year 8-11... There was a guy who was a complete nut job who did nothing but take the piss out of everyone except the other chavs. Now though he's stealing from shops for a living so I doubt he'll last long in life. I couldn't fight him either, he would have probably tried to kill me.

I Was bullied in high school during year 8-9.My school was a bit on the notorious side so defending myself was a bit of a problem. But during the last 2 years of school, I was starting to stand up to people so I guess it ended on a high note.

Yup, from grade 4-10, every year by someone different. Thankfully that doesn't happen anymore.

When I was 9-10 I got the nickname little penis because one of the older kids saw me running across a field and said i looked like one (I was short with a buzzcut, IDK)? That developed into Lil peen since it was the 90's after all and by 4th grade I just stopped going outside and discovered Toonami. Been bully free ever since ironically. Part of that is because I try to make them laugh, like Pacino in Scarecrow. I hope I don't end up like him though :X.

I was. Right through junior school and then right through senior school. Thankfully I had very good friends. Otherwise I doubt I would have lasted long.
