I find this is a really very good test!

I got the Midland! This means I have no accent, I'm probably from Missouri (which I am), and I have a great voice for TV or radio... :P

.

P.S. I know the poll doesn't have the 8 responses but sorry GS polls aren't that great.

The Inland North,

You may think you speak "Standard English straight out of the dictionary" but when you step away from the Great Lakes you get asked annoying questions like "Are you from Wisconsin?" or "Are you from Chicago?" Chances are you call carbonated drinks "pop."

"Your Result: Boston

You definitely have a Boston accent, even if you think you don't. Of course, that doesn't mean you are from the Boston area, you may also be from New Hampshire or Maine."

:| I've lived in Florida all my life...I've never been anywhere near Boston, New Hampshire, or Maine.

"North Central" is what professional linguists call the Minnesota accent. If you saw "Fargo" you probably didn't think the characters sounded very out of the ordinary. Outsiders probably mistake you for a Canadian a lot

Seeing as I live in Wisconsin, I'm not suprised...

Believe me you do. Maybe not one that fits in with the poll. Maybe it's a non-descipt American accent but it's still an accent.

Anyways just because you live here and got an accent from here doesn't mean anything. Look at New York, there are many races and ethnic groups and they all won't have the same accent even though they all live in New York.

Ohhhh snap !! This quiz was right on.... I got Northeast:

"Judging by how you talk you are probably from north Jersey, New York City, Connecticut or Rhode Island. Chances are, if you are from New York City (and not those other places) people would probably be able to tell if they actually heard you speak."

Yeap...I'm from NYC...hehe. I don't think someone's ever told me I've got a NY accent though. Except when I say the word "stupid" for some reason o_O

"You have a Midland accent" is just another way of saying "you don't have an accent." You probably are from the Midland (Pennsylvania, southern Ohio, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and Missouri) but then for all we know you could be from Florida or Charleston or one of those big southern cities like Atlanta or Dallas. You have a good voice for TV and radio.

Thats kinda funny, since I am from Florida, born and raised, while my parents were from up north (Boston, Chicago, and Connecticut areas)

The West....Your accent is the lowest common denominator of American speech. Unless you're a SoCal surfer, no one thinks you have an accent. And really, you may not even be from the West at all, you could easily be from Florida or one of those big Southern cities like Dallas or Atlanta.

I have a midland accent, yet I've never been to the northeastern part of this country. I've never really been to the eastern part of this country.

I was born in Navada, learned how to speak english when I was living in Europe, from my parents who grew up in Utah. And I moved to Arizona when I was 4, and lived here for the past 14 years. How could that possibly give me a midland accent?

The midland accent isn't associated with the northeast. It's associated with certain south-western, western, and midwest states.

I have a pretty thick southern accent, but I don't draw out my words when i speak like a lot of southerners though.

I do try to use proper grammar, although sometimes I slip up and say y'all.
