norton or mcafee ?

Webroot, AVG, CCleaner, Spybot. Overkill, I know, but my computer got bricked twice by viruses in December and January.
Kaspersky, but both norton and mcafee are terrible imo, but if you have to use one of those use norton.
You can use a good free alternative like Avira or Avast (not AVG it has subpar detection).
Teh Funeral that is a really bad idea, when there are great free ones, just get avast or avira from cnet and uninstall mcafee.
Linux. because you are NOT secure with windows
Up to 88% of Fortune 500 companies may have been affected by the Zeus trojan, according to research by RSA's FraudAction Anti-Trojan division, part of EMC. The trojan installs keystroke loggers to steal login credentials to banking, social networking, and e-mail accounts.

Yeah i know, thanks ill do that.
If yuo have common sense and use a reliable anti virus then you are relatively safe from viruses.Linux. because you are NOT secure with windows

None, if you're internet smart you don't need one. I feel like it's a waste of computing power.Ringx55You need something, because just going to any website can lead to an infected ad that will automatically download a virus. This happens on legitimate websites.
I use Comodo and Microsoft Security Essentials.cd_romComodo is pretty good, I use to use it but now I just use Norton 2010 because its bundled with my ISP.
You need something, because just going to any website can lead to an infected ad that will automatically download a virus. This happens on legitimate websites. No, it really doesn't. Just don't go on stupid website, end of problem. And even then, goolge chrome usually warns me about malware on a page.[QUOTE="Ringx55"]None, if you're internet smart you don't need one. I dont know about you but i would rather be safe, most security suites use very few resources I am using kaspersky right now and is only using 30mb of ram which is barely anything.[QUOTE="Ringx55"]None, if you're internet smart you don't need one. Edit: Why do so many people use AVG when Avast and Avira have been proven in almost all major tests to have a higher detection while using less resources? (They are also free)
[QUOTE="Atheists_Pwn"]If yuo have common sense and use a reliable anti virus then you are relatively safe from viruses. not really, considering ant viruses scanfor signatures and most malware is polymorphic now. Just use LinuxLinux. because you are NOT secure with windows

[QUOTE="Atheists_Pwn"]Same goes for sex and STDs, and the solution isn't to just stop having it. If Operating Systems are "sex" then Linux is just a different kind of sex. Its free. Windows isnt. You mean to tell me you should be paying for sex? :) Seems like youre more likely to get a virus if you pay for sex... same with operating systems. I never thought of it that way until now. hehLinux. because you are NOT secure with windows

HIPS/Application control plus sandboxing software= pretty damn safe. Kaspersky Internet Security(which i use) has those plus a very good signature detection rating. This has kept me safe from 30 trojans.
Do you have them both running real time, or do you do custom scans with SuperAntiSpyware every now and then? custom scans with SAS every now and then. =) It's only ad-related cookies that manage to sneak around Avast every now and then, nothing big. =)[QUOTE="BiancaDK"]Avast for the rudimentary stuff SuperAntiSpyware for everything it can't seeTeenaged
[QUOTE="Atheists_Pwn"][QUOTE="Person0"]Person0"Kaspersky Internet Security has those plus a very good signature detection rating." I dont think you understood my point. the fact that it scans signatures is a bad thing. But signature scanning is not the only defense it has, A multiple layered defense means your are 99% safe as long as you dont go looking for viruses. "A multiple layered defense" How?

But I also scan with Malwarebytes Antimalware.
But I asked because of what I hear when you have two anti-virus programms running at the same time (real time).

I tried running AVG home edition (full version) and a free version of Avast at the same time for almost a month.
Nothing big happened, AVG just kept complaining about Avast. It kept requesting to take over certain functions previously performed by Avast, there were no real conflicts. You can try it out for yourself, although it makes no sense to do so, since they won't cooperate on functions with eachother, it's one or the other.
