What are some good Metal/Hardcore Bands?

What a band calls itself and what they are do not always make sense. Hardcore by definition is "Hardcore Punk". Its a style of punk music with gang vocals, breakdowns and a positive/violent message.

I don't think that's the case here, though. I think all DivergeUnify was trying to point out is that battlefront23 didn't post any Hardcore bands, but mainly Metalcore and other "-core" bands.

I thought they were Symphonic/Melodic Gothic Black Metal, or some kind of weird chimera along those lines (granted, taking away all of the athmosphere and rawness of Black Metal in the process, but still)? :P

There are 11 main sub-genres, according to metal-archives. But there exists every possible double, and even triple combinations of those sub-genres, with all kinds of nonsense (like Gore Metal) and descriptive terms (like Technical Death Metal) thrown in between.
